great info ac.... thanks very much....gotta get the stubby ratchet...

i was looking at a part on ebay.. don't laugh till you see it ... its a chrome tail piece for a motorcycle that if ripped in half lengthways could make a nice cover for the hole.. its a fishtail type...

i'm laughing cause i'm serious !

H/cat - whatever floats your boat. Being creative is part of the fun.

Yes, it helps to have the small, 1/4" drive ratchet for two of those removals. I donated some knuckle skin,,,but cussing relieves the pressure, lol.

Hey...who was that Y2KYELO guy ??? ......

....the bumpers are easy to remove, just have patience.....the cars look pretty good without ANY bumper covers at all......you will need to order an extra set of wiring jumpers and just remove the lights from the bumpers and hang them inside the grill with bread ties......that way you can have the car fully functional till you decide whick product to buy......this pix is of my silver Kat....I never did put anything over the holes on this car and no one really noticed the difference.....

....another tip....if you run like the silver Kat....put all the bolts back in the holes after removing the bumpers.....that way it doesn't look like anything is missing.......anothet hint(I did this on a black Kat)....I used black spray paint and just painted the front flat surface black.....it TOTALLY disappeared from sight.....guarantee you, no one will ever notice the openings....

...this is when I was "Y2KYELO X 3".....two 2000 Kats and a 2000 Vette....still have the one YeloKat with 185 miles on it....all the other cars are long gone

I noticed!!! You left that area open so Cookie could jump out at stop lights to fetch another bag of Twinkies you stored in the hole area.

Y2KYELO was a shifty character from Indiana,,,,we tossed him out after making negative comments in the classified section, lol.

I vote that halicat fill in the hole left by the bumper removal,,,for a cleaner look. Besides, I want him to spend more $$$

When Eddie Powell and I removed my front bumpers we found it made the jod easier by removing the headlights.

i'm going to have a look at it this afternoon and if the lights are not to difficult to get out i may go that route... its an hour and a half drive to the city for a ratchet and i'm not driving the cat, so there is no incentive to cruise anymore...

just chk'd it out... i think i will have to take out the lights...
2 bolts are fine .. one looks a bit cramped ... and one looks impossible !! now i just got to study the lights to see what screws have to come out....

the hood wouldn't stay up.... we all know the problem

i cut a pc of 1/2" polyethylene yellow gas pipe about 1 1/2" long, spit it lengthways to remove about 25% of the diameter. slipped it over the rod on the strut when the hood was full open .... and it worked perfectly.

Cost conscious shoppers should not rule out the "other" bumper fill kit

Yep two of the bolts are a real pain to get at, and you only get maybe 1/8th of a turn at a time if your lucky.. I definately wouldn't waste my time putting them back in if you do put the bumpers back on. I reinstalled mine with 3 bolts per side and all was fine..

I don't know about leaving the holes open though. To the general public they probably won't notice, but if you go to an event you might never hear the end of it... Trust me I know from experience....

Have Fun!

The guy wouldn't give me an inspection sticker without the bumpers.. Since I didn't have front turn signals...

I hid the bulbs behind the battery, and painted them black, and wrapped them with electrical tape so they wouldn't be seen at night.

You are going to have to keep the bulbs connected or your side markers won't be bright and your turnsignals on the back will flash too fast.

the guys are telling me to mount them behind the grill so they can still be seen... i wonder if that would work for inspection? i was thinking of some motorcycle turn signals mounted in the holes where the bumper was connected...

Yes you can do that, but the only way for it to look "correct" would be to buy a turn signal relocation kit.

Real Rod has them, and they look pretty good!

When removing the headlights ther is a nylon nut on the bottom of the assembly that has to be removed.

I didn't use the stubby that was suggested, but I really had no problem and found if you will remove the three bolts that you can get to and then twist the bumper end down and the remaining bolt is right there to get to from outside with ratchet and extension.
