I've been looking around for a while for brighter xenon headlamp bulbs compatible with the prowler and all the products I've found are 100watt bulbs. I seem to remember that the stock bulbs are 60watt but I could be wrong. wouldn't 100watt bulbs cause overheating and damage the electrical system? I could use some advice in this matter.

thanks a lot. I think I'll not risk any damage and just leave the headlamps stock.

I found some 65 watt White Xenon blubs in Detoit. Also
Toucan Industries makes them too. You can find them on the web. No problems with them.

Thanks Sassy. Could you please post the item #'s? Again, all the bulbs I've found are 100 watt.

Spyder - The blue bulbs I installed are 65 watt, Xenon New Generation, EUROLITE - FUSION bulbs, made by Toucan Industries, part#9005 SB. Appox $20 cost

visit www.toucanindustries.com

Definitely blue light extending out front of my cat now, but not the blinding ultra bright light coming out of those Hondas, Lexus, etc.

I was just talking to a friend of mine about Prowler substitute headlight bulbs. He worked for GE Lighting for 20 years and was head of Marketing. I showed him the PIAA 9005 information and he said it's BS, "there's no free lunch." If you increase light, you decrease life and increase power consumption. He didn't recommend it and was afraid it could melt the housings. (These bulbs Halogen, not Xexon)

What he can safely recommend is ordering the bulb used in the Viper's high beam and filing down the keyway bump so it fits our Kat's socket. This is a new, high-tech bulb that breaks the rules and puts out more light without giving off more heat and without using more power.

I have the same bulbs (65 watt) Eurolite bulbs Alley Cat has and got them on Ebay. You need four 9005's. Go to ebay and type: Xenon 9005

They will be there.

Sorry, but I don't see how a 9005 can truly be Xexon. If you look at the aftermarket Xexon retrofit kit for our Kats, the kit costs $950 and includes ballasts and other electronics to fire the bulbs. It takes over 10,000 volts (I think) to fire a Xexon bulb and get it to light. If your Kat doesn';t have those kind of goodies under the hood, you're running halogen bulbs.

This has been covered before and yes if you want the REAL deal you will have to spend $800-900 a pair which comes with the ballast ignitors and the rest of the shooting match. And to do it really right you will need two sets. SOOOOOOO.... the guys are just saying you can get a whiter bluish bulb going the Euro Lite Xenon Fusion bulb route. They cost around $20 and are definately not a yellow light like the stock Prowler has. Whatever kind of gas they are filled with made no difference to me, just wanted the white/blue light without spending the hard cash.

Hey, I'm not one for getting over technical. I see flashlight bulbs that say they are Xenon, so maybe not all of them need 1M volts to get going. The www.piaa.com web site shows the 9005 bulb (halogen) and I thought this is what Kat owners for the most part are swapping out with the stock bulb. The best price I have seen on those is $130/4.

You can't beat actual testimony from users. If POL members are having good luck, that's okay with me.
