I just received my annual insurance premium from The Hartford and it seems that they have now figured out what a Prowler is. My rate per year went from $685 up to $1010. When I called to inquire about it they explained that I had a surcharge because I was driving a high performance sports car. I live in Phoenix, AZ. but plan to relocate over the next 60 days to San Diego. I'm sure the rates aren't going to be much better there but I'm looking for some recommenedations. I have a clean record. I'm 53 years old and only drive about 6000 miles a year in this car. HELP!!!!!!! ------------------ |

Just got my quote for next year. $687 for full coverage, $10 less than full coverage for my 97 GMC work van. Go figure. This is CSAA. Now my regestration just came in to for next year.$1245, ouch. I live in the Bay Area, CA. Had the car 11 months,, 15k miles on it. Ins company asked me to fill a form out about how much I drove it. Thought it would really raise it. But it stayed the same. ------------------ Real Rod front and rear panels, front turn signals Exhaust by Precision Muffler Metal Crafters front spoiler, grill and rocker panels Supercharger by Paxton [This message has been edited by jd2ksilver (edited 10-18-2000).] [This message has been edited by jd2ksilver (edited 10-18-2000).] |

I guess I inadvertantly put this post in the wrong discussion group. It should be in general discussion. I'm simply looking for an insurance company that might offer more competitive rates or am I stuck with this new rate from Hell? ------------------ |

Just cancelled my State Farm insurance. Live in New Jersey..they were socking me for $1800/year. Spoke to Haggerty Insurance in Mich. they classify the prowler as exotic and my premium is now appriox $850/year. Only draw back is that I can only drive about 2500 miles /year. |

I'm insured with State Farm in the midwest and pay $778 for a 2000 Prowler with a clean driving record and 7,000 mile allowance. |

I live in Michigan, I'm 53 yrs old with a virgin-like driving record. I pay 870.00 a year. My premium is slightly higher because I have $500,000 coverage for PL and PD, and $500,000 uninsured motorist coverage. Most people in Michigan only extend these coverages to the $100,000, $300,000 level. |

My rates went up ~$160 / year. I've got Erie and live in Ohio. Insurance agent said rating on Prowler was adjusted to reflect repair costs. ------------------

WOW! Only pay $1,115.00 per year with NO LIMITS on mileage. This is with State Farm. I have been with the same agent for about 15-17 years and have several other autos listed with them. They say that I get a multiple car discount?????????? I also carry, 500K, 500K instead of state limits.

James - State Farm, 7,500 miles per year, $1,000 deduct., full glass, multi-car, multi-plans = $295 every six months. You live close to my agent, call him and mention my name to see what he can do: Phil Alberry, 480-892-4994, Abco/Islands Plaza, Warner and McQueen, Gilbert, Az. He'll give you the facts! Larry S. |

wow! I better call my agent immediately and complain. I'm with State Farm. My family & I have been with them for over 20 years. My husband & I have 7 vehicles between the two of us (4 cars & 3 motorcycles) & our rates are quote, unquote considered "for pleasure only" driving & pay about $1,100 for the prowler without any points or accidents. I am, however, only 26 years old and recently beat the "under 25" ridiculous markup. As for those with registration fees, try car property taxes annually. No, not home, we pay those too. Yes, apparently for the lack of revenue the state does not receive in terms of tourism and no lottery, those that have, must pay up. Just a clue, how about $2,200 for a 2000 Viper Gts & about $1,500 for the 2001 Prowler. I think I have a gripe to pick too. Yes, the answer is to move. We plan to. ------------------ |

I am an agent with State Farm and a Prowler owner, too. As you know, insurance rates will vary depending on all of your coverages, age, zip code - City - State, deductibles, additional discounts, etc. I'd suggest giving your agent a call and review all of your policies. Pleasure rates for State Farm mean you don't use the car for work and annual mileage is 7500 or less. I'd make the same recommendation to anyone, regardless of their insurance carrier. |
