This is a good one. About 20 something years ago my brother had a BMW he needed serviced, at the time I was able to help. I go to the BMW dealership in West Hampton for some reason, I don't remember why. I get there they pull the car in and tell me it'll be a while, ok. I'm hanging out, inside and outside smoking cigs and stuff. Head to the bathroom ?(stomach went sideways for some reason) long story short, I was in there for a little while. I come out of the bathroom and the dealerships a ghost town and Christy Brinkley is looking at a Z8 (I think, I don't know BMW) so they closed the dealership for her to look at a car, I went and said hi for about a minute before one of her bodyguards politely asked me to wait outside. Billy was in the office making the deal I heard later.

My claim to fame is umpire related. In 1998 I was the plate umpire in the Babe Ruth World Series Championship game that was televised regionally on ESPN. In 2001 I worked the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) college tournament games. My first of 4 Indiana High School State finals I was number three in rotation and worked 3rd base. The game was a pitchers duel that was won (1-0) on a home run. I had the best view in town and never made a call.

I remember years ago someone on here from Fairfield, Connecticut had a pool installation company. Anyway, he installed a pool at Keith Richards' house. Can't remember who the POA member was but perhaps he's still on here.

Well, there was the time in 1985 I was considered AWOL from the US military while stationed in Sudan during their civil war. There were six of us (5 Army & 1 USAF) attached to Central Command providing arms/training. During the coup the Sudanese military parked a tank on the only runway in Khartoum so the president of Sudan couldn’t return to Sudan from Cairo. A group of protesters attacked the US embassy, burning vehicles parked outside. I was scheduling to depart Sudan but all of this meant I couldn’t get out either. I laid low for several months. When I finally got out and showed up at Kirtland AFB, NM I was informed I was classified “AWOL” and “where the hell had I been?.” I had absolutely no idea I was AWOL as my pay never stopped. In Sudan we had no phone service or internet etc. as we only carried small Motorola “bricks.” The embassy had cable traffic but I never heard anything. If anyone was looking for me they were incompetent in my view. As I explained to my superiors, if I was going to go AWOL someplace, Sudan wouldn’t be high on my list. I eventually got my AWOL status corrected without going to the brig. I even got promoted later.

This is a bump to not loose this great thread. The Prowler owners association is after all about the car AND the owners.
Let get to know each other better?

I don’t have much for this thread but after reading some thought someone might find this funny or interesting

Was setting up for ISCA show in South Bend Indiana

Had about 45 minutes before they opened the door

Trying to get another coat of wax on the car and this older lady walks up behind me and starts asking questions and talking to me about the car.

I’m trying hard to get the car done & not be rude to this lady. She tells me she really wants a Prowler but her husband wants her to have a Bentley

I’m thinking, “Right”

So I finally look at her & she has a tee shirt on with a line of car & it said The Cars are the STARS

So I start paying a little more attention to her , then she ask “ Do you know who George Barris is?”

Told her Yes

She said “ that’s my husband “

Well she walks off & a little bit later she brings George back to look at my car

So talked with him some, then went to the Playing Mantis booth he was in with his Millennium custom Studebaker

He signed a few things for me & wrote “ Nice Prowler “

That weekend is when I was talking to rep from Playing Mantis to make my car into a Johnny Lightning diecast
