I've got $36k in my prowler, I've had it a couple of years and and put 3k miles on it.( 16500,miles) I've done everything that I know of to make it nice. New rims/tire/grille/Vert. stab. bars/LLoyd mats/ Sutton side panels/K&N filter/cooler grille cover/rollbar chrome covers/ convert top rubber seals.. How much is everyone really expecting to lose on their Prowler investment. I know I can't get $36k. I'm looking at some other cars.Give me a % number you'd be willing to lose. 10%..15%..more...or just keep it and forget about the money and enjoy the car. Spring is a good time to sell or I might have changed my mind again by then. I have orginal side panels, grille, mats and all 4 manuals. This message has been edited by Gort on 01-15-2015 at 07:47 PM |

I have found over the years you never get your money back on mods, 99% of the time. Original car always get more, Eferem is a perfect example. I have never bought something for a investment, I always bought because I just needed to have it. So when time comes to sell, sell it at fair market value and let the chips fall were they may. It is hard to say what percent you would let something go at because everything retains value differently. My wife said to me the other day I can't wait to go out in the Prowler in the summer. She never said that to anything I have previously bought, so the Prowler at this point is worth a million to me. It all comes down to what dollar amount are you happy with seeing the taillights driving away in the sunset. |

Gort, I like the landscaping by the way. I am a little partial looking at nice landscapes. What kind of tree in the one with the pink flowers, looks like a Kwansan Cherry? This message has been edited by Landscape Doctor on 01-15-2015 at 11:44 AM |

Probably won't grow up North. I have a friend from Florida visit years ago and he was impressed by my Kentucky Blue Grass yard and my Colorado Blue Spruce trees. Kind of made me think, I was always impressed when I went to Florida by the vegetation that they grow that we can't but it kind of works both ways. |

Well my opinion gort I bought so low that I don't feel I could ever loose on my prowler unless I do something stupid like have a accident in it and have it show up on the carfax report...then of course I would bite the bullet ....at this point I am looking to get a 10% return every year especially if I continue not to drive it. I could possibly sell my Kat for what I paid for it but it would probably be tough to do. This of course does not count all the dollars I have put into it since then. IF I were to put it up for sale, I would likely remove several items and put them on the next one or sell them individually. I think I would be better off that way. When I bought my car, I intended to drive it and enjoy it which is exactly what I have done. It was never intended to be an investment, just something to enjoy which is priceless. |

Bought mine brand new off the showroom floor back in 2002. Paid $45,000 for it. I've put several thousand dollars in it over the years in little upgrades and stuff. But I've also driven it for over 12 years. Plan on driving it at least another 12 years. Then I'll consider things from there. |

I wouldn't consider it an investment, but my Prowler was the least expensive car I ever owned. Bought it in 2001 with 300 miles on it for $32K. Sold it November 2013 for $29K, at Mecum. I don't know of many other cars that you can actually put miles on that hold their value like that. |

Don, you got a good deal when you bought it, for sure. You did good and I think you are the exception to the rule. PLUS you had a great time driving it. |

I only think someone loses money on a car is if they bought it and don't drive it. (sorry Efrem). I consider myself as "the caretaker of my cars" and that eventually they will go to someone else to take care of. While I have it I drive it and enjoy it and my cost for that is like renting a car and then giving it back. Buy it, drive it, enjoy it and when time to sell get the best price you can and remember the memories. |
