As this post was originally about the computers, let's talk about computer health and what you can do to protect your's. Because they rely on the battery for power, the best thing that you can do to protect the electronic modules in your car is to keep voltage constant. Most of these cars sit for extended periods of time. Because the modules use a small amount of power all of the time, voltage drops over time. Typically the manufacturer tries to ensure that the vehicle will start at zero degrees after thirty days of storage from a fully charged, fresh battery. As batteries age, they don't hold their charge as well. So the prescription to protect you ECM, PCM and TCM is to keep the battery at full voltage all of the time. Use what you'd like but I still like Battery Tender. Out of the 15 that I have, I've only lost one in 14 years and it was on a deep cycle marine battery that was near dead when connected. C-Tech makes a maintainer that looks interesting but I haven't tried one yet. Yes, Battery Tenders and C-Tech aren't cheap and there are many low cost alternatives available, but ask yourself, are you willing to take the chance? Just my two cents. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! |

I went to my Chrysler dealer and tried to order a PCM - not able to do it. Are these being offered only through "Mopar Land"? |

I live on high humidity tropical island, and occasionally have electrical problems concerning corrosion with connections/plugs of electrical components. Where are these three modules located? I'd really like to check all of the connectors, and want to be sure I don't miss any of these. Thanks BillyC |

quote: There is a chance the individual you dealt with either did not know these parts may be available again, or maybe simply to lazy to care enough to look up the parts and check availability. Unfortunately these days, the customer needs to be better informed than the parts counter help. In many places the parts counter folks are more interested in texting their friends and watching utube video's than trying to assist customers. It is best to be prepared with the correct part numbers so the lazy idiot can simply enter it into their computer and check availability. |

There are 3 1997 thru 1999 computers in stock as of Now There are 4 2000 thru 2002 computers in stock as of Now. I do not know who you ordered it from, but if the parts guy knows what he is doing, he will be able to order one for you. Today the Southern California members had a tech day. I was told by our Chrysler source that the above is available. A total of 5 have been bought so far in the last 12 weeks. You may have to order it from the parts manager who possibly knows these exist or a parts guy who is willing to do their job & find them in Chrysler's inventory. But they are available. |

I wonder how many of these computers will be bought by owners in need and how many will be bought by horders and opportunist. I hope it's the former and not the latter. |

quote: Remember that Chrysler will gauge interest by sales, just as other vendors do. If people buy these units, for any reason, FCA will be more inclined to make more. I doubt they will judge the motive of the buyers. |
