Very nice and neat. Factory should have done this. Bet it will look great when painted. Now the big question. What's the price and when will they be available????????? Your products show your craftsmanship and are always top quality. Thanks again Tom for another product for us Prowler owners to enjoy. |

Just wondering how the rear portion will open. Is there a door popper and remote? Also, how does the front section support the load of the hardtop? |

Don't mean to rain on the parade but I prefer the look of the trunk lid door type as seen in CCJ's picture. If I ever had the opportunity to get one of those, I would. As is, the new one is a split trunk lid for the sake of convenience if you have a rag top. To lift the rear of the top to get into the trunk has never been such an inconvenience for me that I would spend the money for a split trunk lid. Now, if I had a hard top, that would be a different story since it is very much an inconvenience to pull off the hard top just to open the trunk. |

Speaking of rain. Have you ever had to access the trunk when it's raining? Loosen the front latches, pop the top at the rear, jump out and raise the rear portion of the top, open the trunk, meanwhile it's already rained inside the car and its also probably leaking in some at the windshield and side windows, then close the trunk. Lock down the rear pins on both sides. By the time you get back in you are pretty wet and maybe the inside of the car is as well. Now of course if you never take your car out in the rain or never been caught in the rain you can disregard this whole scenario. This message has been edited by BeWare on 08-14-2014 at 05:44 PM |

quote: Actually it was. Engaging the rear pins first allows for less downward pressure onto the aluminum trunk clamshell. Then the latching of the front is to take place. This was discussed and debated wayyyyy back many moons ago here on POA too. |

I've always clipped the front first then pushed the back down... just my preference.. |

quote: Correct. Opening, release front or rear first, your preference, I just feel releasing rear first is better since the fronts help to keep tension on the top for full release (yes, still talking tops here). |

quote: I think that if you're opening up the trunk when it's raining, the trunk door would be be advantageous over the split trunk system. My thinking is that you have a smaller area to open and a trunk lid that can be opened only as high as necessary and would form a "top" of sorts over the access opening. However, I do try to avoid driving in the rain and it has nothing to do with the trunk. Of the three Prowlers that I have owned, they all had a tendency to be leaky around the side windows, especially near the top front, and that includes the one hard top that I owned. |
