I have ended up with 4 sets of performance gears for the Prowlers and only need to keep 2.

Looking for input on which to keep and why.

Here is what I have:

1: G Force Gears (2001-02 time frame) used (2,000 miles) - Gears, chain, speedometer calibrator and all instructions came with them.

2: New Prowler Pro gear set with everything included.

3 and 4: New G Force Performance Gears from 2007-08 with everything included.

I tried searching for the differences but just got more confused.

So what can you guys tell me about these?

Thanks.

First thing to know is you should not have any problem selling the 2 extra sets. Just offer fair pricing and there will be buyers.

There should not be any apprecable difference in quality. There MAY BE a difference in the actual gear ratios. There was a very limited run of performance gears with 24% difference vs 27% (think those numbers are correct) for people wanting to use for drag racing so they could keep car in 3rd gear all the way to end of 1/4 mile run without shifting to 4th. For street use- any of them will give great preforance change

Tony (G Force) offered two different sets of gears Stage I (27% higher final drive ratio) and Stage II (24% higher drive ratio).

The following was posted by Tony Goertz (G Force) July 21
2001. (These are Tony's Stage I Gears compared to Prowler Pro#

Gear Ratios
1st 2.84
2nd 1.57
3rd 1.00
4th 0.69

Rear End 3.56
Transaxle Transfer Sprockets 1.097 #Standard#
Transaxle Transfer Sprockets 1.40 #G-Force & ProwlerPro#

Overall Transaxle & Rear End 3.89 #Standard#
Overall Transaxle & Rear End 4.97 #G-Force & ProwlerPro#

Overall Top Gear#4th# 2.68 #Standard#
Overall Top Gear#4th# 3.42 #G-Force & ProwlerPro#

The following was posted by Tony April 23 2003 when he made is Stage II Gears available

-Force Stage-II Performance Gears have been released. Stage-II gears provide a 24% change in final drive ratio. #27% on previous gear sets# For 1/4 mile runs, this means your car will NOT want to shift out of 3rd until farther down the track

The following is from August 2003 regarding Stage I gears

Stock Prowler has a 31 tooth #drive# and 34 tooth #driven# gear set. This is a 1.09:1 ratio

G-Force performance gears have a 39 tooth #drive# and 28 tooth #driven#. This is a 1.4:1 ratio

Net effect is a final drive ratio which is 27 % higher than factory.

G-Force performance gears are 1-3/4 " wide with a single OEM chain#

Shift points will be at a 27 % lower speed with no change in engine rpm#

Engine rpm at any given speed will be 27 % higher with G-Force gears installed#
ie at 50mph engine rpm of 1475 will be become 1875 rpm with the gears installed#

The following was posted by Radcat Rich 1/10/2008# Tony's gears he is referring too in this post are the Stage II#

ProwlerPro is approx 27% higher than factory final drive and has better torque , really kicks in 2nd gear torque
I believe that Tonys is 24% not much diff there#
There is a diff in size of the chain Width
stock #2chains#= 1#25"
deans # one chain#= 1#75" #result 40% more contact area#
Tonys #1 chain as well# = 1.5"
The drive and the driven gears have different # of teeth on the gears:
Deans : 25/drive#smaller Gear# , and 35/driven #lg gear#
Tonys : 22 drive .............., and 30 "

August 18 2003 Tony posted the following

We continue to offer the Stage-II Performance gears as "High Output" gears for engines with increased HP , Superchargers and/or NOS systems

Hope that all helps. I bet you are going to get you get a lot of interest in your extra sets of gears.

I have had Tony's Stage I gears installed since August 2003.

I may be wrong but I don't think Dean ever offered different final gear ratio's so these would also be 27% higher final ratio.

3 and 4: New G Force Performance Gears from 2007-08 with everything included.

These could either be Stage I (27% higher) or Stage II (24% higher). Count the teeth on the drive and driven gears. Stage I have 39 tooth drive and 28 tooth driven.

I tried searching for the differences but just got more confused.

So what can you guys tell me about these?

I believe the biggest difference between Prowler Pro and G Force Gear sets is the wiring of the Speedometer Correction Computers that come with each kit.
If I remember correctly, the Prowler Pro Gears require one of the wires to be connected up into the Fusebox, next to the Driver's thigh.
G-Force Gears allow for all of the wiring connections to be made easily to the Transmission Control Module under the trunk lid.

alprowl - Don't know if this will help but take a look at the company label on the speedo correction box that came with the gears.
