I took my Prowler in to get the ovals on the inside door panels painted. A detail place sprayed one with some white primer then a coat of yellow. It looked awesome, but when they pulled the masking tape off the edges pealed away. The guy is now removing what he did. I've seen many Prowlers with these painted. Anyone know what the magic secret is to paint these?
I tried ordering these stick-on panels they sell. They came in the mail. They looked like they were sprayed back and forth with a spray can. Looked terrible, so I sent them back.
Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks!!! Steve

All the door panels you see painted are fiberglass inserts.

I don't know of a single prowler that the actual door panel is painted.

They might have been black, but would néed to be painted whatever color you wanted.

Stephano,

You can try whatever - stick-on, decals etc. ..but take you time before paint..it will be worth the effort!

all the ones you see painted are fiberglass inserts, nice hard smooth surface.you could paint the trim panel itself, but it will look like absolute crap.the panel itself is a soft textured vinyl.and theres nothing you can do to make it look like the fiberglass panels.sorry.

Another option open to you is a dash kit. Available in several materials (mine being red carbon fiber). First photo is without Cowles 1/4" chrome molding.

If I remember right, during my last visit to Mike's museum, I noticed that on the HVB Prowler, the panels are sewn into the door. Mike wasn't even aware of that when I pointed it out to him.
