Great Job Joe... Not only on the images but with the story line... I to would like to thank all involved in pulling this event off and to all the old and new Prowler friends of mine for there continued companionship and hospitality that they displayed not only to me but to others that came to play at the Texas event... Special thanks to Joe for getting down on one knee to say a prayer for my safe return so that I could give my little grand daughter all the gifts that Sugar picked up for her... She asked for a horse when we left and she got on... onecatnodog

Hope to join you guys on the next trip. We own some land on the Frio river just south of Leakey and hope to build a home there. Can't wait to get out of Colorado. To many liberals and Californicators moving here.

Great pictures guys. I didn't take many, but here is one I did take. Bob Hacker's car. Do you think the sign was appropriate?

I will try to get a few more done tonight, but it is a school night so not too many.
First, I hope everyone had a happy and safe Memorial day. And that you acknowleged or honored a veteran, fallen or alive on this most important day. If not for them, we would have nothing. So here's to you Veterans!

Now back to the trip. We started off the next morning praying to the trailer god for a safe trip.

Then it was off to Fredericksberg for some time to do your own thing. For the ladies (and I guess some men?)shopping, or the Nimitz/Pacific war museum, or whatever made you smile.

We elected for a smidge of shopping then to the museum.

It was fantastic. If you ever get a chance, go. It is well worth it. They have the Nimitz part, dedicated to the life of a local son, Admiral Nimitz, a Japanese garden of Peace, the George H W Bush gallery (where most of the non Nimitz WW2 exhibits are), the Memorial courtyard, and finally the Pacific combat zone. We were there 3 hours and only saw about half of what was in the museums, never made it to the Pacific combat zone where they have a PT boat, TBM Avenger bomber, etc. So if you go, and you like history, plan to stay awhile. The next pic is the Memorial courtyard.

Then the Bush gallery. From the outside, it has a facade of sorts that looks like a Navy ship.

Inside, there is so much it is mind blowing. Just a tiny taste.

More inside the Bush Gallery.

(A 1/72 replica of the USS Nimitz.)

Japanese "Rex" Float plane

Commander's barge

Definitely go if you have the chance. But be prepared to stay awhile. And bring your glasses, there is a lot of reading.

From there we went to the LBJ Ranch or the "Western White House". Unfortunately because we stayed so long at the museum, we were late to the party and had to do the Readers Digest version (or if you saw Chevy Chase in National Lampoon's Vacation, when they visited the grand canyon). But we drove around with our CD from the visitors center telling about the ranch. Caught this guy doing a tour of his own.

Not many pictures here by me, although we did get some in front of a jet housed there. It was the plane used by LBJ when he was president and vice president. Air Force one was too big to land there so he would fly into San Antonio or Austin on AF 1 and then take this JetStar to the ranch. It was referred to as Air Force One Half.

Just a few more,

(To anyone who was in those pics, I have up close and full view of car only and car with you. If you would like those sent to you, please let me know.)

Then it was off again

To, you guessed it, an eating place. But this time, Bar-B-Que. A true texas cuisine.

Had to wait a little bit, working up an appetite.

I warned you at the beginning, this group spent half their time eating.

After dinner, it was back to the hotel. A late night. Did not get back till about 10:30. But another great day.

There is only one day left, and it started out like this.

But that will have to wait until our next visit. For those asking when the hell will he finish, my answer is SOON, just one more session, the banquet. I imagine I have used all my allotted bandwith for the entire year.
The final installment will be in a couple of days, too busy tomorrow after 10 days off work. Thanks for hanging in there!

I know I am a little late in posting my Thanks to all who participated in the Texas event , however when I returned from our trip I decided I had not had enough excitement so I slipped off the curb while checking the mailbox and fractured my left foot ,(and to think I wasn't even drinking ), but all is well and I have to stay off the foot for a few weeks .
Just wanted to express our thanks for the wonderful time we had visiting with old friends and making new friends.
It truly is amazing how the Prowler can bring a group of people from practically every walk of life and profession . It seems after each event that I have attended I leave with a sense of goodness and just plain ole fashion appreciation for the fellowship that is shared at these events .
Thank you Marty & Rebecca for making this event so much fun . Your dedication to the Prowler community made it fun for all of us ,and we all appreciate your hard work in making this a success. Thank You !

Here's a few pics I nabbed at the car show we went to the first day.

There are several other cars in the show reflected on the side where the turquoise is.

Here's a reflection of Sugar's car on Dan's open decklid. I wish I had centered the emblem more on her nose.

Back at the hotel
Woodward with Real Rod bumpers. I got some more detailed pictures of these to possibly help if anyone were to take on the task of making more.

Getting ready to go on our first cruise. That's Jim "JimR" and Lori in the foreground getting into their yellow Prowler.

Sorry about the quality of some of these. It wasn't easy driving, steadying the camera, and setting up the shot.

None of the Prowlers like parkign next to my Camaro - maybe they were afraid those long, heavy doors that open REALLY wide would put big dents in their sides!

Everywhere we parked, the Prowlers were backed in!

I think this was a bath. It was fairly low to the floor. You would put water in the pitcher that was mounted on the wall. It had a spicket mounted on it you would open to fill a sink below. You would sit on either side of the sink and use the water to bathe with.

I was trying to get the various colors the sun was bringing out in the flames on Arthur's car, but it seems like every time I try to get that, the camera just won't pick it up.

A clean shot of the Alamo

After dark

and the above pic lightened some

front and rear

The blue Camaro to the far left in back belonged to someone that just saw us and wanted to join us for a bit. He was in the area camping with his wife on their honeymoon.

Where else but Texas

How many reflections of Joe's car can you find?

This was a pretty long wall at the hotel with 5 or 6 evergreens evenly spaced along it. I thought it would have made a great place to line the cars up and get a group shot, but we never got 'er done. This was the Texas cutout John was taking shots thru from the roof behind it.

More cruisin'

(Take note that there was a full moon the night before.) We all lined up in Luckenbach as usual. (Notice Marty's car is on the far end.)

While inside the post office, I picked up a paper telling the history of the town. Not wanting to carry it around with me I took it back to the car. A van full of ladies was creaping past the cars all excited and stopped me to talk about them. The driver seemed to know a bit about cars and knew what they were. One of the ladies in the back asked me what they all were, and I told her they were Prowlers. Then one of the ladies asked, "Well, how come that one on the end looks different?" The driver told her, "Oh, that's just a Camaro."

Remember the full moon the night before?

Is that a couple of Prowlers in back on the USS Nimitz?

On to the LBJ ranch
For those of you that have never seen one, here's a real live presidential deer

A few pictures I took at the hanger of Air Force 1 1/2

I think that's Bob Hacker's car in the background. (Bob, let me know if you want a copy of this one.)

Wow, thanks to everyone who has posted pictures. Great job Greg, Mickey, Dan, and John. And to everyone who has posted comments.

I did notice one recurring theme though, John sure does have a lot of people sitting on his lap. I don't know if I should be offended or thankful that he didn't ask me.

By now I hope everyone has rested up, cleaned their cars (except Dan, he does not allow dirt or water on his car, apparently just a dust rag!), and are already looking forward to the next trip. Makes me wish I could get up to the Rock and Roll event.

Well, this post has been like a mini-series for you. And I'm sure you're excited to know that this is the conclusion of my pictures. Mickey has already posted some from the banquet so this will be a little anticlimactic. Sorry to anyone who was holding their breath.

Friday morning started out raining. A big clap of thunder was heard at about 7 AM which sent a couple of people out to check their cars. Good thing too, as one had left a window down. A good samaritan put a hotel towel and plastic to cover the window and minimize the damage. Prowler owners are good people.
The rain lasted till early to mid afternoon.

Some brave souls went out anyway, some back to Fredericksberg. Others just stayed around the hotel and packed or relaxed.

The banquet that evening was supposed to be cowboy/girl theme. It seems only one true texan showed up.

It does make you wonder how long he had to ride to get here though. And what he rode.
The rest of us were just slackers and came casual. Larry even put on his dress up T-shirt.

There was enough food for 3 times as many people that attended. The food was excellent. Good choices Marty.

Excellent desserts.

Unfortunately, a lot had to leave early for prior committments, but thanks for coming. Sorry you could not stay for the banquet.
But man, they had some good looking people that stayed around till the end!

I also got a few closeups of the attendees. Sorry, some of my pictures caught them not smiling or with eyes closed, but they all were great, great people and deserve recognition. (I apologize if I mess up anyones names. Names are not my strong point. If I make a mistake, please let me know and I will correct it.)
