"Looks like right now most of the people that have responded want to run the indiana and ohio toll roads." Brian, maybe it was just a typo, but I don't think you want to run the ohio toll road. I think it will take you out of the way. In fact the Indinia toll road is way out of your way. You maybe able to meet up w/ others on I-294 & then just take that to I-94 all the way to Detroit. quote: It really does not matter to me either way. The Indiana and Ohio toll roads are supposedly a lot smoother and less truck traffic. Adds about 23 miles to the trip according to mapquest. I've gotten the same responses from several other people. This message has been edited by kat hunter on 08-08-2007 at 09:43 PM |

i guess the service plaza between exit#21 and exit#23 on the indian toll road would be as good as spot as any to meet. 830 am |

Katbird, last year there was a bad construction area on Rt 23 just north of the 475 bypass around Toledo, Ohio. As for Dixie & myself 8:30 am at the plaza on the toll road is way to early. I don't know about Brian (Kathunter) he will be coming from Springfield, Il and we will come from Peoria, Il. We are at least 3 to 3-1/2 hrs from the plaza. Brian should be about the same time. For us 10:00 would be a much better time. Gene & Dixie - Peoria |

i thought it might be to early but if i don't hit downtown chicago by 6am traffic becomes a big jam and stop and go. i know you guys can detour around the big city but i have to go through or take the boat. |

Gene, all the construction is completed in Toledo. I was talking to Dick Kott about some other things. He told me to look to the East at that point to see the cool new bridge. The old Jeep plant is gone. That will be a refreshing change, no construction at that point. |

Thanks Ed, for the heads-up on the construction on Rt23 at 475. That was a mess last year. See you and Sandy at Woodward on Wed. nite. Gene & Dixe - Peoria |

I'll be leaving Wednesday morning. Not too early though! But I live near the downtown area. If anyone is coming from Wisconsin or the northern suburbs, you could bypass all of the downtown traffic by taking Lake Shore Drive and follow that all the way south and catch the Skyway later on. The Skyway can be taken directly to I - 94. If you didn't want to pay the tolls, Lake Shore Drive can be taken to south Chicago, and then you could hook into I 94. This still isn't bad since the Indiana construction is done. For those that are taking I - 94 south of the city, all of the Indiana construction is done and it is VERY NICE. Very smooth and free flowing. |

Chi Town Prowler, great to hear you are coming to MoTown, look forward to meeting you, have a safe one & Lake Shore is the most scenic route. This message has been edited by 392HEMI on 08-10-2007 at 08:51 AM |

To 392 Hemi - Thanks for the shout!! It would be nice to meet you as well as a great many others at this event. There are many good people in this club and I would enjoy meeting them.* *Note - CJ told me to say that!! (haha) But in all seriousness, I took 94 through downtown and into the Dan Ryan and it was MURDER!!!! BACKED UP ALL THE WAY!!! I will DEFINITELY AVOID WHEN I GO!! Maybe the fact that it was Friday had something to do with it too, but why chance it? Either take Lake Shore Drive or take 294 to the west. |

Looks like travel planning for Wednesday is turning into at least 3 distinct groups. One plan seems to be to meet at the service plaza between exit#21 and exit#23 on the indiana toll road around 830 am. Another group wants to meet around 10 am. (Could we split some of the time difference and make it 9:15 to 9;30 Gene and Dixie)? I believe both of these groups are running the indiana and ohio toll roads. One group, that does not yet have a meeting time set wants to run 94 thru southern michigan. With all the trouble various kats had in tulsa the idea was to try and have no one running solo. I totally understand the nothern groups desire to get thru chicago traffic before it get congested. But the group coming from the south has a 3 1/2 hour drive to get to a good meeting place. Which group can/do you want to join? I'm flexible on time with reason, but do not want to leave anyone traveling solo if at all possible. |

Brian, we could meet you on I-57 about 7:30am. We would need to leave Peoria by 5:30am. I am not sure if we could make the I-80 plaza by 9:30am. You check the mileage from I-57 & Rt 24 at Gilman and see if you think we can get the rest of the way in 2hrs. We both will need a quick stop for gas on the way. Let me know. Gene & Dixie -Peoria |
