![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My cat finally goes into the body shop this weekend to get the small dent repaired caused by that 65 Impala. ![]() I have copied the diagram which describes the correct angle that the bed should be prior winching the cat up on to the flatbed. The Service Manual diagram also shows small straps that were used to wrap around the frame in 4 places to secure my cat. These straps are attached to the end of the J-Hooks from the flatbed. Has anyone purchased a set of 4 of these small straps? Any other recommendations on flat bedding a Prowler would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks again guys and have a great weekend! Brian |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Brian - when calling for a tow truck,,,,just ask the company if they have nylon straps to use to winch up and tie the vehicle down with. Explain your situation. If they say no,,,call another company. Usually the companies that tow high-end type cars, will carry along and use nylon straps to prevent damage to the vehicles. The drivers know,,just usually don't care about your car and just use the chains. NAPA and Carquest carry the nylon straps,,,but you shouldn't have to buy them, JMO. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Brian - my car has been on a roll back a couple of times. Both trucks had staps they could attach to the chain/hook at the end of the winch cable. They also had boards or ramps to get the front wheels up so the nose didn't scrape. Same thing when the car came off - use the ramps. Both driver's were cautious to take care of the car when loading, but of course I was standing there watching them closely. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks guys for your suggestions! My body man will be loading and driving the flat bed. He said that he normally just places leather gloves over the ends of the J-Hooks to keep them from scratching any surface they happen to come in contact with. ![]() I don't think he knows that DC recommends that the strap(s) are threaded through and around the Prowler frame. Thanks A/C...I will check out NAPA in the morning for the correct size straps. Thanks Marty...I will use a coulpe of planks that I normally use stored in my pickup. Also thanks heynow...but the straps on that site look a little too long. Brian |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Most wreckers carry boards, blocks etc. since they are picking up wrecks that are missing wheels, etc. They tow off the side of hills, into the woods, etc so they should have some equipment with them. That said, it does not automatically mean the guys you call will be properly prepared. Watch them closely. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Brian Get 2 carpet remnants and drive onto one. Put the other in front of that and drive onto it. Repeat as necesary. Now you don't need a rollback. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well...the cat never made it to the body shop today. ![]() ![]() Looks as if it may go in the middle of next week now. If the temps stay cold...below freezing...I will probably end up driving it in to save me the hassle of his flatbed. Thanks anyway guys for all the suggestions. Especially MDProwler with carpet remnants procedure. Have a good weekend everyone! Brian |
