Is there any vendor selling suicide doors? That is a mod I'd do tomorrow!

You are looking at over 100 hours labor from a competent shop to modify your Prowler doors to the "suicide" look. Maybe I'll do it someday, but for now I'll just drool over images of George's car!

Now that we've done it, suicide doors would take 3 weeks to complete.
Remember ... "Custom doesn't come in a box, it comes one blade at a time".

Vertical door jambs are relatively easy to convert to suicide style. Georges took a lot of ingenuity. Personally, I prefer the looks of the Lambo doors.

I too have the GT Factory Kit installed on my Kat and have been quite impressed with the product, and with Dan at the factory. My kit is welded in, new plates welded in place of the factory plates. This too can be cut back out and replaced to the original factory condition should I change my mind. and want a factory correct car again. ( not likely)
George Maxy's beautiful car is probably the most modified Kat I have seen to date. Should George be of a mind to again have his Prowler factory original, it could be done. ( this too is unlikly... but it could be done) My point is that there are cars all over the world that have been cut up, cut on , welded on, chopped, ect, and all of those cars could be brought back to original condition should the owner choose to do so. I have customized almost all of my
cars in some manner during my life and was never afraid to do so, because I knew it could always be returned to it's original condition, should I or the next owner desire, no matter how radical the modification.
I hope this sheds some light to those who may have desires to modify but are afraid to go beyond a certain point.
PS. I love the "lambo" doors. Easier leg entry, but mostly.... EASIER EXIT from the car when in my enclosed trailer ( ie: doors straight up ) Just my 2 cents worth.

TOPCAT - can you please post some pictures of your cat with the doors opened? Sides and angle shots if possible, please? Also, how much did you get charged to have the kit installed? I looked into this recently and one location in my area wanted about $2500-$3000 just for installation, not including the $1000 for the kit...seems a little too expensive?

Yea, Dan, definately one of my best mods yet.

AKADVS1, I have many photos, including installation photos, but I have recently had difficulty in posting new photos to my scrap book, HOWEVER, there are about 6 good photos of my Kat with the door mod in the Event Discusion Section
at Spring Fling XX pics-post em here.
This modification is not simple. It does require a knowledgeable technician to accomplish the mission correctly. It also is expensive due to the amount of time required. Pick a shop that has done this door kit on numerous other cars. If he has not done a Prowler, Dan from the GT Factory will offer photos and and assistance to your technician. He will also recommend a shop to do the work, but it may not be in your area. I trailered my car 4 hours from here to a shop to do the work. Dan did not know of any one in my area nor did he recommend the shop that did my work. It will take a qualified technician 3 days to a week to finish the job. Just remember, if you want a cheap price, your going to get a cheap job. The GT Factory kit is all Stainless Steel, and the only kit that offers the full range of motion. Look at the photos of my doors and Dan's
(RBADKAT). Notice how far up the door opens to offer the extra leg room for entry and exit. I hope this offers you some additional insight for your decision.
Jim
