that's almost the exact mileage on my car, my wheels had very minor peeling also, but DC replaced mine at no charge last month, even give me a new set of center caps, not bad for a car that's been out of warranty for almost 3 years.
Elluva way to run a company......... |

quote:well, the way i did it was i ask them why the chrome peels on the back side of the wheel, there answer was the back set side is not as important as the front side so they decided to save a few bucks & cut corners, then i said if that's the case then why didn't they just paint the back side & there wouldn't be any complaints, i found out before hand what it would cost to paint the back side or have it polished, the cost is about the same, so i suggested that they should pay the have the wheels painted, i also reminded them that this is a high end chrysler product, not a neon, to have a high profile car like that running around with flaky wheels is very poor advertising, then at least they should do is to cover the cost of the painting, so finally they called me one day & said that they will not pay for the painting of the wheels but instead have a new set of wheels on order for me, they also stated that there will not be another wheel claim under my serial #, which i thought was fine, so i told them since they're at it, they should send me a new set of caps too as they would probably break when i try to remove them, and they agree also, so that's my story, wasn't really that painful, but they've gain a loyal customer at the end. |

My wheels are in pretty rough shape. They are very pitted, and the chrome is peeling off at a few spots on the outside lip. I doubt they were ever polished as this car was very neglected by the previous owner. I obtained the full service report on the car where I bought it, which was also where it was sold new and serviced. I was surprised to see that these wheels ARE replacements!!! I think I will have the wheels re-chromed next winter. I wouldn't want to get another set of new wheels just to have them turn to junk in 2 years. I think Crysler really dropped the ball on this one. These wheels will always be a black eye for them. Imagine the big MOPAR shows of the future, whith lines of Beautiful Prowlers lined up looking perfect, except that the factory wheels are all rust. Not good advertising. On the bright side.....The modifications have started!!! I have replaced the shifter bezel with a chrome one. Very nice upgrade. I also bought a great random orbital polisher from Griot's Garage, and it is awesome. The paint looks brand new...no swirl marks, and old scratches made invisable. If you have not ordered from Griot's Garage, let me tell you that their stuff is of the highest quality. I asked my wife to buy me shimmers for Christmas Hey, hanging out here is getting expensive!! |

Looks like you're having fun... Make Mudflaps your #1 PRIORITY! the rock chips you avoid are amazing with them. Get the rear flaps too. Don't forget the cool Flameball shifter from www.realrod.com As for the wheels, I have read posts of peeling wheels new in the box. I'm just as dissapointed in American Racing as Chrysler, though DC denying wheel replacement on the basis of too many Prowlers having peeling peoblems boggles the mind....That's like not recalling the Pinto because too many of them were blowing up in collisions... Corporate beancounters are one of the lowest forms of life... |
