CJ, I guess I hadn't thought of the bumpers in those terms. I didn't believe they would really stop that much damage, or have anything to do with the operation of the airbags. I thought in a car of that size you pretty much took your chances, and bumpers wouldn't make much differences one way or the other, in a collision. To each there own. Guess I haven't been around long enough to have seen a post on the bumper controversy. The cat is the most fun car I have ever owned. Most would agree on that I hope. ------------------ |

Well I guess I must like the looks of the car with its bumpers on. We just bought a new back up set off of E bay to save for when our's show wear. |

2000Cat......LOL! This subject has come up a lot over the last several years. I keep telling everybody this, but you know men........they don't listen to women!! Those are the facts......you just have to make your own choice. I like the way the car looks just like it is with the bumpers. I have no desire to take them off and not willing to risk the possibility of more damage if it did get hit........that's my choice! Jan............I'm not just a pretty face you know..... ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

other regular cars, behind the frt.cover, have a foam absorber and steel or fiberglass.or aluminum impact bar which controls the deployment of the air bags.there, there for a reason.ive seen the bumper cover removed for a repair and car has been in a previous crash, where the shop reinstalled the old broken foam absorber and taped it to the impact bar.not good.if second crash had been real serious, enough to deploy bags, and somebody had been hurt,it has lawsuit wriiten all over it. ------------------ |

Well... This thread has taken a turn... I love my bumpers... a great sit and rest place. I think they enhance the car and make it special. My two cents... |

I ´m a Street Rod / Hot Rod Guy, I like the Prowler only without front fenders. I drove the Kat one year in the USA , all over the east coast from Canada to Florida. I had the OH-front plate on a special licence plate holder.Never had problems with the Police. There are driving millions of cars in the USA who are in a danger shape, a Prowler without front bumpers would be the smallest Problem, I think. |

Butch - I'll drink to that! Joe - Looks like those first two coupes could make it over the speed bumps. Nice rides! Chromer - I think you win for the best photos! You captured "the look" and with Jack aboard who could vote otherwise. Get a new computer at your place? |

quote: Just like at many other car shows, they jsut raise the body on the built in hydraulics and off they go. That pics was taken at the NSRA Street Rod Nationals event last year. All cars must be drven into the event site. While some are trailered, the vast majority of the 15,000 street rods are driven to, from and around Louisville. The point was to show that MANY cool rods don't have front bumpers. Rich - the 32 was either the winning or finalist for best paint award - sponsored by PPG.
