I have developed and successfully tested an upgrade rear pin assembly for the hard tops. As of today there on the market. These can be correctly tightened and adjusted. They fit exactly ware the present ones fit and come with 2 special tools(not found in most home shops or even professional ones) There are complete instructions. You'll only need a 1/2" open end wrench (combination wrench) but a set of mechanical fingers and a pocket rule(6") would also be handy. It should only take about an hour to remove, install and adjust the new pins. The kit is $ 125.oo and that includes shipping in the USA. If you want a set for your hardtop let me know. Send the bucks to Scott Curtis, 755 Vista Grande Ave., Los Altos, Ca. 94024 You can call me at 650-067-3609 or e-mail me at scottsprowlerstuff@yahoo.com I'm sure this will help all the hardtop owners, Obi-Wan

Obi, can you tell us how they are different from the current ones? I know you say they can be correctly adjusted but can you give us an idea how they work?

Thanks in advance,
Blackcat

They are longer than the orig. ones and have a hex that's just above the trunk lid that allows you to turn the pin to adjust the height. The jam nut is now a tension nut so it won't loosen up and most importantly the top t-nut inside the top cavity now has a welded nut on top of it so you can hold the top while tightening down the jam nut. I include two special tools not normally found in most shops. All you need are the tools I mentioned in my first thread. Theres detail instructions with a drawing to help. I've spent many hours working all this out and it works very well. I think you will all be pleased. It will take you about an hour or two to remove the old ones and install/adjust the new ones. The trick is that these can be tightened and the adjustment is very positive. The new upgrade pins and their hardware are all stainless steel. The pin is one piece machined and the hardware is very high quality. It appears similar to the original. I hope this answers your question, Obi-Wan

Hi Obi - I've got a hard top on order and I was curious if the pins you developed are designed to stop the hardtop from rattling.

I have had problems with having to re-adjust the pins in mine. I'm going to make sure Bob sees this.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have bought and installed the new pin obi wan made for the hard tops!!! A very very BIG improvement over the pins it came with. There is still a small rattle or squeak but a big difference. Does not come loose anymore while driving. I am very satisfied and well worth the bucks!!! good job Obi wan !!!!!!!! I Love My Hard Top even more !!! Linda

Hey Scott
Just finished installing the pins and they are very well thought out and easy to install. My top doesn't have a headliner and I forgot to mark the original position of the pressure washer but it was so easy to adjust them with the top in position resting on a towell it didn't matter. They are so easy to adjust that I don't even have to drive the car to confirm their value (I'ts snowing for the next couple days so can't drive it anyway). IF it still rattles the adjustment is now so easy that it is no big deal to take a few minutes to adjust the top. Every hardtop owner should have 'em. Would have saved me hours of time spent adjusting them and waaaaaay to many miles of listening to an improperly adjusted top.
