Hope all my Florida Buddies are safe for this one, I for one am running away back to NJ for a few days. Even though she is 5 days away, after we seen what happened with Charley, I think we will run away early. Right now Frances is supposed to hit Vero Beach/Sebastian, where we live, lets hope she turns away from us. Fredd - 2000 Woodward Edition |

No kidding. I moved to North Central Florida (just south of Ocala) back in mid January and I'm beginning to think the welcome wagon here consists entirely of category 4 hurricanes If we can get Frances to do what Charley did and turn North/Northeast a few hours ahead of schedule, she would head up the east coast of Florida about 100 miles offshore. I'd say that would be just about perfect By the way - I picked up another Prowler (missed my last one since the day it left) so, if it's okay with youz guyz, I'll be joining you in conversation from time to time. I'm Purple now. Did Orange last time, figured I'd try Purple. Big plans for this one too. Ahhhh. It's good to be back |

I'm with you. We live in Fort Myers and missed the eye of Charley by about 15 miles. Then, after being in Punta Gorda less than two weeks ago, let me tell you, I am out of here if it is coming close. I just booked flights for my family to go back to NJ as well. I'll just have to leave my Prowler and my Yenko Camaro behind. What is up with all of this weather? My old home town of Medford, NJ had 12 dams break 6 weeks ago, then Charley down here in my new home, now this... what's next? Keith |

Us folks here in Orlando feel like we have a bulls eye painted on our chest right now. From the looks of it Frances is coming right at us! Very rare to get hit with two major hurricanes in one season. We are doing all we can to prepare for her but one can only do so much. Wish we could pick up the house and move it to the mid-West for a few days then drop it back home again. Just finished all the cleanup and got back to normal here last Sunday. We are praying that Frances changes her mind and drifts out back to the Atlantic but we are not expecting her to. Rick & Phyllis |

Good luck to you Florida cats! A little heads up. Many of you know I'm in the gasoline biz. The pipeline logistic people are sending out warnings about possible disruptive of light oils (gas/diesel/kero/jet) supply due to this hurricane. Their afraid of additional flooding. All fuel terminals are packed with transports from Fl up thru MD to try and get as many stations full as possible before this thing hits. There certainly is no need to panick, but I would advise anyone along the east coast to top off their gas tanks just in case of pipeline delays or power outage.

Got the baby in the neighbors garage and have boarded up the house and half the neighborhood tonight. Still have a few things to do like support the garage door a little better with some 2X4's. During Charley the wind was pushing the door in and out by about 6 inches. It bent but did not break! Can't take that chance again, hence the extra support. Most people here in Daytona Beach seem to be a little bewildered. Everywhere I went tonight (the stores) a lot of people seemed to be zombied like, not really there but somewhere. The Home Depot had a steady line of about 200 people all day as did Lowes for plywood. You'd think it was the mall the day after Thanksgiving. Went out tonight to cruise at least one last time for an hour or so. I didn't see a lot of preparations being made, but there was some. I hope they get off their *** and do something or get the hell out of Dodge. They no not what is about to hit them. Been here all my life, (half in Daytona and the first half in Miami) so I know what can happen. If you ask if I'm scared? I'll reply somewhat. What scares me the most is when these monsters of Summer hit you at night in the dark. We will have to go through about 20-24 hours of wind, rain and more wind. We had a bunch of tornados during Charley and this one will or should be no difference. Just hoping for the best and get it over with so we can clean up and get on with it. By the way, some of the cities nearby have not even had enough time to clean the debris from the sides of the roadway yet from Charley. Hope all to the south west and north do well, we are just going to hunker down and ride the wind until it blows no more, if we are still able to stand. Tally Ho Wally |

ETMIDZT....thanks for asking about us. We live in Palm Beach county also on the south end. Jay and I were surprised tonite like "wallygator310" already mentioned in his post that more in our immediate neighborhood had not even begun any preparations. We went ahead with closing up the storm shutters and will finish early Thursday. The cat is secure in the garage and hopefully will stay that way. Take care everyone. Sandy has two sisters that live in Jupiter, FL, as well as some friends that we met on a cruise, who live about 1/4 mile inland, also in Jupiter. That looks like the landing point, at this time. Good luck to all of you. |
