CJ, could I put in a request for before kids go back to school. Would really like the kids to experience Yellowstone again and they are very active in our local Prowler group. Maybe chamber of commerce could recommend the least busy week to come during the late summer time-frame. Just a thought, but if your doing the work, your the boss. No matter when its planned, it will be a wonderful cruise. Craig. |

FYI, Myself and a few other POA members will soon be working on a 2006 Event in Virginia or possibly in North Carolina. We are looking for an area that will peak everyone's interest, be an area of fun and excitement for 4 or 5 days, good cruising, and excellent accomodations at a reasonable price. These are the factors that pull crowds to our events. So please remember, those of you who are planning an event for 2005, make it fun, and show us something new or an area that most may not have seen before. Some folks only get one vacation per year and they use that time to attend an event. Make it eventful and memorable. (JMO ) Jim This message has been edited by Top Kat on 08-31-2004 at 10:33 PM |

quote: CJ, It will be cold the first week of September ... my Daughter lives in Jackson which is just South of Yellowstone and she said that the snow is already moving down the mountians there now. I was there the end of June and the first week of July ... I had a jacket on while watching fireworks on the 4th ... I was also there during the first part of August ... the lows in August were in the upper 40's with highs around 80. It was really nice during the first part of August. Scotty |

Okay......I give up........ Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day weekends are impossible with regard to lodging. I'm not the "boss", I'm not the only one working on this. We will do the best we can in choosing a time that is best for the logistics of the event. |

CJ, Nothing bad meant by the "Boss". But if I can be of any help doing research, just let me know what to do. If it just taking a long walk off a short pier, I can do that too, but it will have to be late August...... Thanks for your efforts, Craig. |

CJ - You are right, it's not possible to please everyone. Just relating to Yellowstone, seems like a 55 day window from June 20th to August 15th,,,minus the July 4th week because of huge crowds and shortage of hotels. Whatever the planning group decides,,should be the scheduled dates without any pis$ing and moaning from the rest of us. |

CJ, We all still love you even if you don't want to be "boss". Actually there was a lot of people there for the 4th of July but there were still rooms available at several motels. The fireworks are awesome ... they shoot them off at the base of Snow King ski resort and they echo off the mountain ... the sound sets off all the car alarms in town. My daughter and I are at your service boss ... I mean your majesty ... I still owe you for Auburn. Scotty |

71 degrees in early Sept doesn't sound bad. Sure beats the 60 degree high at the Churchill Downs Car Show during our first Louisville event. CJ - if you are the planner, part of the perks is being able to schedule it not only when you think is best for MOST people, but also when YOU would like to have the event. Plan it, and those of us that can make it will do so. |

Scotty........please..........no titles of any kind!! Thank you for the offer of help.........I may take you up on that. Marty......Perk?? I was approached about spearheading this effort and I agreed along with the promise of help. This isn't going to be what I consider best for me....I will try to do it to accommodate as many people as possible, yet work with the logistics of the location and event. I hope to be able to put up a post in the next couple of days with more info and questions to help make this decision easier. |

CJ - maybe "perk" was the wrong word. What I meant by that was that I don't think you would be an effective planner if you scheduled the event at a time you could not make it. It take way more time and effort to plan an event than most can imagine and the satisfaction of seeing so many people enjoy themselves becasue of the planning effort is a trade off for the planners seldom having a chance to relax and have as much fun as those attending. |
