Excellent point Marty about the radio (automatic volume adjuster),,,,you got us wondering now. Silver cats were 'built' in 1999, as my cat's production date is 12-07-99, but are titled as 2000's. Maybe it was the first silver built and they didn't have the new radio bezels ready or were trying to get rid of the old stuff first? I'd be skeptical of this one and would want to see a photo of the actual Florida title that they have,,,,,could be a salvage title car that was painted silver??? I did notice that they went go to great lengths to point out NO WARRANTY existed OR that they can't be held responsible for ANY misinformation about the ad or representation of the car Too many red flags!!! Somebody needs to do a complete Carfax report on this one, IMO. ------------------

I am pretty sure 99's came with gray bumpers. The shifter may be blocking the tell tale sign of the radio. My guess it is a 2000 or newer. Beside they list it as a 99 Chrysler Prowler and we all know there is no such thing. This message has been edited by BeWare on 07-10-2004 at 04:22 PM |

Rich - I just went out and looked at Lethia's cat, and the angle of the picture wouldn't block out the radio volume switch,,,,it's above the power plug hole. I caught the part about it being a Chrysler, but many people know Plymouths are not being built any more and advertise them as Chryslers. Pulled up that one picture of the DC label on the door and looked at it through a magnifying glass,,,,looks like build date: 6 - 99 Pilot car that survived the crusher? Still wondering? My 99 has a chrome bezel. That has been replaced on a lot of cars, probably. Someone close could go check it out if anyone is that interested in it. Lots of mysteries surfacing with these cars already. |

According to the CarFax, car was first registered in September 1998. That would indicate a 1999 model. -GRROWL |

With the vin # as listed in the add being for a '99 and the radio being a '99, I guess someone could have painted it Silver, added black bumpers, and the chrome shifter bezel. I didn't see a pic of the mirror to see if it had the readout in it.

Marty - interesting!! Looks like this one was built at the end of a run of purple and at the beginning of a run of yellow. 1P3EW65GOXV500587 - purple I'd say it is legit. I bet DC was in the middle of two production runs and decided to test their new color. Silver was the only "new" color released in 2000. This is probably silver prowler #1!!! I doubt it was repainted. Everything on it is stock and it has only 2k miles on it. Looks like it was bought as a collector's item, not as a motorhead toy... |

I'm going to bet it's an original 1999, not repainted. After discovering the silver/black models from 2000 that were not Black Ties, I'd say this is not beyond the realm of possibilities. -GRROWL |

"This is probably silver prowler #1!!!" Maybe we are on the right track, BUT, in the ad the picture of the door label shows a 6 - 99 build date, and the Carfax report shows it registered first in 1998. I was thinking that McDonald's corp probably got one of the first silver cats made, as they were doing a give-away contest of a silver Prowler in the later months of 1999. They would had to have the car earlier to do the promo pictures they used on their french fry packages, game pieces, and contest mats. I don't know the answer to this one, but I do think something SMELLS pretty bad on the surface facts listed. JMO This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 07-12-2004 at 07:15 AM |

I noticed it was registered as a commercial vehicle. Many businesses don't carry insurance and just pay for repairs themselves. This could account for no accident report, the missing signature on the trunklid, the build date on the (replaced?) door, and different bumpers. Just food for thought. This car may have been in a minor accident and the company paid for damages themselves. Interesting thread. |

I think Ed was talking to me (Ken who posted about the Black Painted Bumpers!) All I can say is that on the invoice or window sticker or whatever it's called, It mentions Black Pained Bumpers with NO ADDL CHARGE...I don't know how to post photos here, but if you want me to email it to you--Ed Monahan--I will. Then you could post it here so all who have this question can read my exact window sticker! Wanna do that? Let me know! ~Ken BERRY |
