If you're talking Chrysler, they do not have a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. For instance, it doesn't cover the bumper (haha). I have Chrysler Maximum Care, and do believe it's worthwhile (for the big things), but go into it with your eyes open and confirm that it covers what you want it to (it certainly does not cover everything that the 3/36 did.) -GRROWL |

FYI We have an add-on warranty package available through our Hendrick Autogaurd Division. This is a High-Tech coverage of 4yrs/48,000 miles which covers most everything in the vehicle. We just quoted a price for a Prowler owner that came to $2195.00. This coverage has a $100.00 deductable, covers rental car expenses also. It comes with a credit card which is used for covered repairs anywhere within the United States as long as the vehicle is at a ASE certified shop. This warranty coverange has a 94% approval rate compared to the industry standard of around 65%. More info is available to anyone who may be interested. ------------------ |

I don't think that is a Factory Mopar package. Be careful , you just may end up without coverage when the time comes. Price isn't everything. ------------------ |

I would do an internet search and see what price you can get, then compare it to Mopar's, using Mopar as your standard. Typically, you will pay more through a dealer, and less with a company that is not connected to the automaker. I did a little checking and some of the bigger companies (warrantydirect, 1sourceautowarranty, etc.) wont cover prowlers. WarrantyGold does cover prowlers at a cost of just over 1K for a 5 year, 75K mile policy. The downside of going with another company other than Mopar is the possibility that the company goes under. I have researched this in the past and what I learned was that you should not buy your extended when you purchase a new car. You end up overlapping coverage which is wasteful. Buy the extended just before your factory warranty is up. With a car like a prowler, most will exceed the time long before the miles so you want the time clock to start clicking at the end of the 3 year factory warranty. Others are correct here, NONE of them are true bumper to bumper. The devil truly is in the details. If you compare different plans, research exactly what is not covered. You will then see how they stack up. |

quote: 1) Warranty Gold was recently in bankruptcy. Sugest you research them CAREFULLY if you are considering them. 2) The most valuable part (to me) of Chrysler's Maximum Care, so far, has been the free rental car when the prowler is at the dealer (for ANY reason except collision). This policy, at least, is designed to supplement the 3/36, not overlap with it. -GRROWL |

Good points Growl. Warranty Gold did go into bankruptcy but I believe they are still in business. I mentioned it only as an example, not the one to choose. This is something that is definitely worthy of some extensive research. ------------------ |

quote:For what it's worth, if I was in your position and from what I've read (which is everything that has been posted) I would only go with the Chrysler Maximum Care warrantee (add the first-day rental option if it's important to you, it is to me). I think it was Alley Cat that posted a dealer that would sell it to POA members for $100 over cost, READ IT ahead of time so you know what you have covered, and buy the peace of mind to know that the engine, transmission, air conditioning, power steering, and all MAJOR components are covered (don't worry about the trim, wheels, tires, knobs, fabric top, handles and little stuff that isn't). FWIW. -GRROWL |

I would recommend, as GRROWL mentioned, Causeway Chrysler-Jeep in Louisiana for a DC Mopar Maximum Care warranty. You choose your mileage limit and deductible settings - $0 $50 $100 deduct. This is Laddie's dealership and has provided the best price available for a long time. JMO I'll have to dig up a name and number. |
