Jay, I really appreciate what you are trying to accomplish. I for one, being a Street Rodder, and owning many over the past 20 years, and now an avid Prowler enthusiest, have lobbied the National Street Rod Association to include the Prowler on it's own merits. I continue to hit brick walls. No one wants to hear it. I respond with the "Alloway" Speedstar, "Boyd's Cars, Chip Foose's cars, all of the glass Willy's , Minotti's, Deco Rides, many many others and even that junk by "Street Beast" are all included. They are not cars built in the 30's and 40's. THEY WERE JUST PRODUCED. They only appear to resemble those cars. WELL SO DOES THE PROWLER!!!! All this falls on deaf ears. I have been to the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Knoxville, and York for the past 3 years and finally passed on going to any of the three this year because I am feed up with there way of thinking. I read CJ's post and that idiot's reply and disrespect to her. As I said, I have been a Street Rodder. After meeting the Prowler Owners, I no longer feel it important to be part of the Street Rodder Crowd. The Prowler Owners I have met are much nicer people. I'm not saying I wouldn't join you guys at some of their meets if someday they wise up and allow us to participate, but, I am really not concerned if they don't. It is definately THEIR loss. The day will come that the Street Rodders will want to be part of our crowd and our events!!!Don't give up on your goal, but don't get your feelings hurt either, from their replys. Good luck!! This is similar to what I encountered last month at a local event. No Prowlers due to the 1975 and older rule but there were 8 or 10 kit Cobras. I asked the guy, "WHY" and he stated because they were kit cars. I guess he thinks the driver's built them themselves. If they don't want the Prowler in their show and do allow kit Cobras and other 2003 built "old" rods, I can live with that. I just will never attend those events again. I have never had as much fun at ANY cruise-in or show-n-shine or car show as I have at EVERY Prowler event. |

Just my opinion only but why would anyone with a Prowler want to push their way into a place where they aren't welcome? I can think of much better things to do than spend a lot of time with a bunch of people that don't want me at their event trying to convince them that I'm not a bad guy and that my car is just as special as theirs are. I have MUCH more fun cruising than I do sitting in the sun (and paying for the privilege to do so) all day anyway. This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 08-19-2003 at 12:21 AM |

THANKS EVERYONE... The following is my reply to the many, many emails I received this morning... Are we having FUN or what? Believe it or not, there are politics involved in Car Shows too thus the "lobbying" efforts to affect a favorable change with regards to the Prowler was implemented. Strategy... we continue our "lobbying" efforts until we accomplish a favorable change. It is evident that our "lobbying" must continue and reach beyond the internal "local" politics. Additionally, it is very clear that our "respectful request" was beyond comprehension from the hostile reply many of you received. I am curious if the "sponsors" have assessed the future business risk associated with such negativity and public comments. I know there are many very influential Prowler Owners, so turn on the charm and tell our story to anyone that will listen. Remember, "lobbying" is trying in influence an Official, so make it a "good" influence. I have always been motivated for this cause, but NOW, I am really turned on! As always, THANK YOU and it is all about having FUN, FUN, FUN! Best wishes, Jay
I am expanding my personal efforts to inform the "sponsors" of this irresponsible and unprofessional reply to our "respectful request". Sincerely, Jay |

Here it is... in Blue is the email I received from Rick, The Turkey Run Event Director and in Black is my reply... I am in receipt of your email sent yesterday containing the following… “I don’t know if you are the one that had all of thew prowlers e-mail me but whoever did it worked the wrong way below is my replay to them” “you guy just pissed me off with your e-mails I will peobley recommend that we keep you out so check with jay on friday”
Regarding your first remark… YES, I am the one that requested that ALL Prowler Owners email you, “lobbying” for a favorable admission rule change. Personal comment… in any successful business, social or political endeavor, there are generally accepted and basic rules of protocol to follow. From your callous, irresponsible and unprofessional reply to many Prowler Owners yesterday, it is clear that these are totally disregarded and do not apply. I am very, very disappointed that the Organization you represent would allow such behavior and I am personally offended by your actions. As DAYTONA BEACH STREET RODS is a Club / Organization with elected “Officials” it seemed appropriate and within the generally accepted and basic rules of protocol to “lobby” you (an elected Official) for a favorable admission rule change. The dictionary defines “lobbying” as “trying to influence Officials” and it is that simple. I anxiously await your 22 August 2003 reply with regards to our request. Sincerely, Jay |

PLEASE NOTE... Go to the most recent Topic "Did You? If so PLEASE take time to read!" as this contains updated information. Also, it has been requested that we discontinue our "lobbying" efforts via email... we made out point... they got our message, loud and clear. THANK YOU! Again, please do not send any more emails to rick@turkeyrun.com and wait for the Club's decision on Friday morning. Sincerely, Jay |

Might have been better to have sent him one email with many electronic 'signatures' and/or email addresses to let him know of the number of Prowler owners interested in the lobbying effort...
