So far on this weeks poll, 43% have NEVER attended an event! 43%!

I can't believe were not showing out in groups. Kats look their best together!

I know our jobs and weather are factors, but I can't wait to take the Kat out, my only problem is that it's 100 miles to Houston, and thats where more Kats live (I'm the only Kat in Caldwell, Texas, imagine that!).

Why is it that the "Never Attended" number is so high?
Maybe too early in the poll?
What do ya think?

Have a wife and two little kiddos and weekends (as well as weekdays) are reserved for them.

We also don't stray too far from our home area so, we would not join in any event more then 10 miles away. Even then, this car is a two seater. So, with no place for the kiddos, I can either go it alone or find a sitter for them so the wife can go or have the three of them in tow in a chase vehicle. Neither are real exciting options.

Get togethers are great for getting ideas on the car but, then that's what POA is all about.

So no, I don't attend any car events.

YF, I understand everything you said until the last line. "You don't do car events". The Prowler events are not car events after you have been to one. After that the car event is just an excuse since it is now a social event. I am not criticizing you, I am pointing out a fact that you would not know without experiencing the Prowler events. That is truly the best part of owning the car. Again. please do not mistake this as a negative comment in response to your post. I understand why you can't come with two small kids, but it really is not about the cars after you have been there once. It is seeing good friends and having an absolute blast and there is not that much discussion about cars, overall. The cruises are awesome as a group, but it is the sitting around bull crapping that is the most fun.

Ed,

No offense taken. I know alot more goes on then just the cars but, we as a family go everywhere together. Wife would not care to sit around and talk shop (although she really likes the new yellow one) and no nightly activities could be participated in unless we had a sitter. Not to mention the fact of how 4 people would get someplace in a car that holds two.

As far as leaving the kiddos somewhere else so the adults could attend, that just wouldn't happen. We either do things the whole family can do or pass. We miss alot of parties and events this way but, such is life and no regrets.

I know that the couple of events I've been to in Houston, there have been 12 to 18 Kats on the prowl. There's nothing more awesome then to see them all parked together or traveling down the road. And the fellowship with the owners is well worth the trip down to Houston.

I'm aware of five Prowlers in the Bryan College Station area, but never see them out, let alone getting together.

I guess there are Kat owners, and then there are Kat owners that love to show out! I love to take the car out and let others see it. Part if the fun is driving the car, but some of it is talking to others about this unique vehicle! That's the extra BLAST I get out of ownership, something you can't get by just keeping the car to yourself!

Yellow Fever - I have two ex-wives and two big kiddos. I guess when it comes to attending Prowler events, the ability to manage time is probably easier in my case. Fortunately, Rebecca enjoys the events just as much as I do so there is no conflict there.

Happy Prowling

Marty, I have a wife and two kiddos. Conversely, my wife has three kiddos to deal with daily

The only way I could afford to own this Prowler is to have NO wife and NO kiddos. Makes it easier to come and go as you please.

YF - I can understand the family situation and wanting to spend time there, and I'm sure that applies to many owners with families. That could make it difficult to attend events, but it still would be nice to have regional get togethers so that some of us could actually see who we are talking to.

Just my thoughts on the matter!

Events are addictive. Rebecca drove the kat with trailer from Louisville to Colorado in June and then later to Lancaster Pennsylvania for Prowlancaster. She wants to make sure we don't miss events because of my work travel schedule.

My 17 year old daughter Lindsay has been with me to several car events in the past and went to the National Street Rod Convention with our kat in August and entered it in a two day car show last month while I was out of town. after spending hours cleaning and detailing it. She and her friend couldn't believe how much attention they got "from all the guys" at the event - imagine that!! Now she's hooked too and wants to come to POA events.

I think its great that your daughter is getting involved. And yeah, the more Kats, the merrier, right? Buy two or make a rumble seat trailer!

You would think we could tailor the events to be more family oriented, realizing that you can't haul the whole family in the Kat, but I guess that would involve bringing a second vehicle.

What do you all think? I guess I'm still hung up on the substantial number from the poll that show they don't attend.

I have been to several Kat events and I agree it is a great group of people and lotsa fun....my problem in attending more is just the sheer distance/time involved and my better halfs work schedule....and she doesn't like me to have too much fun on my own

Just a thought, but part of the problem may be the way that the question is worded. At least it is for me as a new member, I can't answer it right now...

The question asks how many you attend in a year.....that is fine for long-term members, but not for newbies. I am a brand new owner/member, only 1 month and am working on attending my 2nd event (planned for this weekend), before I have to hibernate her.

I would like to try to attend as many as possible next year within reasonable travel distance. I agree that it is a socialization opportunity -- it was great to meet so many nice people. So, maybe it would help if there was another category for us newbies for how many you plan to attend?

Hey Becky, you have a good point. I bought my Prowler June 1, 2002, and didn't have a clue that this association existed until one of the folks here in my office ran across the POA website. Fred and the South Texas Bunch invited me along once I had posted a time or two, and I've been doing my best since then to "Get Involved". It's great to see that you, like many other new owners, are doing the same.

David, great picture of the Kiddo and his Kat! That's what we should be all about, getting the owners and families together and showing off our Kats - big and small!

I'm new (April) and I can certainly say that almost all 3600 miles have been put on driving to/from events.

As many of you know, we bring our kids:

1) POA people are fantastic and were so good to our children I can't even begin to tell you. And most of the events have activities that are entertaining and fun for the kids. They Loved them and can't wait for next year.

2) Shelley follows me in the Van with the kids or I follow her and she drives the Kat.

By far the most fun I have had with the car is meeting everyone and traveling to the events. What a blast.

Have not been on the site much lately - I spend too much time here and am not getting other important stuff done. Have to watch my addictions.......

John
