Had a choice of Candy Apple Red, Mulholland Blue, or Black Tie. After seeing the Black Tie, made and offer and I owned it. Did not test drive until deal finalized. Didn't care, just had to have a Kat. Meowwwww |

I never even thought of owning a Kat until I stopped by a friends exotic dealership. He had a yellow '99 on consignment. I asked him if I could take it for a drive and at that point decided I might want to own one. Bought my '99 red a month later (with 900 miles on it. Less money than the yellow which had 8000 miles on ti). JRL |

I was able to sit in a Purple `97 Prowler at Sam's Club cruise in a month before my car was shipped. I got to test drive mine on the way home after buying. I really didn't care and didn't ask to drive it. IT WAS MY CAR AND I WAS TAKING IT HOME. I had put a deposit on Feb. 26th, `96 on the 2nd car to come to the dealer. In July of `98 it was delivered. It arrived at the dealer on a Saturday. They called Monday afternoon to my parents house (couldn't find my number and saleman had left that wrote it up). The owner had dad's info since he had bought several cars there. That evening at dinner time Sue & Dad came to meet me for dinner. I knew something was strange since dad was with her. He told me I needed to call the dealer in the morning. The next day I drove out to look at it and get paperwork to take to the bank and the next afternoon went to pick it up. July 15th 1998 the yellow `99 Prowler became MINE Test drove home the 30 mile and got RAINED ON ------------------ |

quote: I agree the Inca Gold looks much better in sunlight than any picture can capture. I think the Midnight Blue looks awesome at night with some lighting. Yep the contrast is awesome on everything but the blue. Even Hack mentioned not liking the color or at least his wife didn’t due to the lack of contract on the interior. I’m in the process of seeing what I can do about that myself. I love the stories of how some just bought it without the test drive step. Those have got to be the largest group of “keeping the cat forever” sayers. This message has been edited by whealy on 10-01-2002 at 10:12 PM |

So my cat had 350+ miles on it when I got it. If hardly anyone test drove, what kind of miles did you have for those that bought new on it when you got it?

I found that in the summer of 99' all the Prowlers I looked at were roped off from the public. The first time I sat in a Prowler or test drove one was after I watched my paid for 99' roll off the delivery truck. |

I was a dispatcher at a dodge chrysler, plymouth dealership in fremont ca. at the time we got one of the first purple cats to any dealer, or so we were told, got to sit in it right away and the prowler tech took one and all for a ride but no one got to drive. later we got a yellow 99 i came in early one day about 5 am grabed the key and took off for a road test for about 15 minutes what a rush, kathy and i took the 99 out before buying but our mind was already made up this was just a fun ride cause they offered, but the new orange just sat there for the hour it took to do all the paper work and transfer all my junk from the old to the new. block-buster |

Cat was paid for when we "test drove." Dealer told me during earlier test drive a customer damaged convertible top which they had to replace. However, went to look at Viper and salesmen on cue moved all cars from showroom floor (Final Edition displayed inside) and we were first and only ones to drive since new. |

Three weeks after I purchased the car. I purchased my first Prowler from a used car dealer in Long Island, NY (I'm in Vero Beach, FL), I had never seen a kat up close let alone driven one. The dealership was nice enough to e-mail me some pictures of the car prior to me sending the money. I had to send a cashier's check for the full amount plus another grand for shipping. Three weeks later my car was delivered. I was a wreck waiting for the car, my wife was sure I was going to get burned; but with 1,500 miles on the car what could be wrong with it; she thought a 76' baby blue Ford Pinto was going to show up. Well that was over a year ago. I was so happy with the adoption I went out and did it all over again and adopted a Black 00' Kat from New Hampshire - same situation - didn't see it - sent the money - chewed my nails for two weeks waiting. I was driving down the road and saw two of them in a dealers window (orange & inka) so I stopped in and looked at them for about an hour.boy was my jaws sore. the one thing I did see was cob webs on the tires and under the frame. I asked the sales guy how long have they been hear and he said a couple of weeks(liar). I went and picked up my wife and told hear I had a color problem and needed help so lets go for a ride. the whole way there she kept asking what is this about,,,I just smiled.got to the dealer and said what color...she laught and said orange.i beat the sales man up made the deal and she drove it home that was around 11:00 am and I didn't drive it until 7:30 pm that night.couldent wait to get home that night to look at it again. that was the coolest thing driving be hind her until we had to split off on the highway. please exquese my spelling errors. ------------------ |

quote: TriJim, Yea damage was one of the reasons my dealer told me I couldn't drive the car. It seems the last person they let test drive it scratched the nose on a concrete parking “bumper” in their lot. Of course they didn’t bring that up until we were doing the deal. So they gave me the paper work that I can bring it back in to have the underside of the nose repainted. Of course I thought it would beneficial to not do that until the winter weather kicked in. And maybe after I got used to it and didn’t do the same thing myself … to many times. |

I rented one locally for the weekend - got 150 free miles a day, and made sure I used 'em all. Didn't want any regrets... But when it was time to buy, I found my car out of state, and bought it sight unseen (and undriven) based on my conversations with the manager of the dealership. Only 600 miles on it, and the dealer I bought it from was also the original selling dealer to the guy who traded it in, so I felt pretty comfortable with things... |

Didn't get a test drive until 6 months after I bought it. I'm stationed in Hawaii and found a new one with 24 miles on it at a dealer in Minnesota. I bought it and paid to have it shipped to Hawaii. I did this 4 days before deploying to the middle east. Didn't get to drive it till I got home. Wife had already put 500 miles on it by then. Howard |

I had heard a story of a past military enlisted man that bought a vehicle while in Hawaii. He also financed it there. Two years later he was ready to be stationed back on the mainland and wanted to take his truck with him. The finance company would not let him take it off the island! He said he had to sell it to locals that knew he couldn’t take it with him and he got killed on the price. I assume you will not have that problem with your situation as you described it. However, is it possible that this is a true story? |
