I have been reading a few postings about “cold air intakes” that will increase HP but I know very little about them. Can someone point me in the right direction of one that performed for them. Thanks. |

I have the MAGICTOUCH DESIGNS cold air intake system, and it carries the ALLEYCAT STAMP OF APPROVAL. Contact William Gallagher in Florida ------------------

There may be an increase in H.P. ( any body have dyno number showing it over stock) because of the less restrictive air filter but I'm not sure I would call it "cold air intake" ( look where it's mounted ). Just my .02 cents worth. Al |

Al - my system is the older version, cold air type. Is mounted way down low in front of the cat converter. |

No specs, but I think I really felt the difference when I put it on. The negative is the load high pitch sucking sound you hear in the car. A lot of people riding with me have commented they think something is wrong with the car when they hear it. |

I would like someone to post and tell me precisely how much the cold air intake improved performance such as reduced ET or increased speed in 1/4 mile on the clock. Who makes/dis- tributes and effective system, and approximately how much does it cost? So far, all my inquiries have been met with "The systems available don't effectively improve performance and no one has made a system that is practical and effective." I dialogued with Bob Wyman recently, and at that time they had not been able to market one that he considered to be good. Just to say it sounded better and felt a lot better with the intake system is not sufficient. I get to feeling a lot smarter after 4 or 5 beers, but I'll bet an IQ test wouldn't show an improvement |

I am not sure what kind of response you are going to get on these specifics. I seriously doubt if many or if any of us have run the 1/4 before and after installation. I certainly have not. The serious performance guys on this sight have done other mods as well, such as gears etc, so I doubt if they will be able to help either as to any gains on the intake alone. I like others percieved a difference in performance and even gas mileage. For example while cruising from Georgia to Louisville this year with Superkat, my Prowler was only on a 1/4 tank when he was near empty at every stop. I have the Magictouch Intake with the EGR Bypass option. It is louder but I like the sound it makes. I know this is not much more help, but I did not want you to think you were being ignored. Maybe once Mike K gets settled into his new garage he can do some before and after tests on his dyno. Assuming of course he has a "cold air intake" |

I had added the cold air intake system, and found an improvement of two to three miles to the gallon of gas. It will pay for it self down the line. Any type of a less restrictive air cleaner will help in mileage an performance, as far as stats in speed, I have none |

Thanks Beware for the insight. I have done some mods, all bolt on, such as Paxton 1000 and upgraded to pull about 11 1/2 pounds of boost, Pro Prowler Gears, and Borla with Paxton X-Pipe, have decided I'm afraid of Nitrous, and conclude the cold air intake is the only other performance enhancer I will entertain. I would appreciate your advising me where I can obtain this product. |

Larry - Have a look at http://www.prowler.ca/panel.html I too have a Paxton installed and developed these side panels as I was worried about intake air temp. When I tested my underhood temp it was always 200deg plus. I talked to Bob Wyman towards the end of July. He was not aware that these were available. I was working on sending him a set to test on the dyno when he left Paxton. I can not tell you if there is a performance gain, but I definitely know that my SC is getting cooler outside air and this just makes me feel better. They also look very good!!! |

One other thing I considered when deciding to buy the MTD is maintenance. You should rarely have to clean it and when you do, it seems to be easier to get to then the stock filter. ------------------ |
