interesting survey results... unfortunately I replied in the $1200 catagory... How DO 82 of you (so far) get insurance for less than $750... is that only on 'restricted' conditions, i.e. mileage? Thanks ! and great question for the survey ! |

Exactly, we have an exhibition policy with Cincinnati which limits us to 4500 miles and requires the kat to be kept in a locked garage. Our policy costs $350.00, What a deal. The first six months we had a standard full policy at about $1000 annually. I inquired about a Viper; an exibition policy is $380 or $2000 for the standard policy. The superbird runs about $400 annually. These are all "stated value" policies, no arguments or debates. Gordon Karns This message has been edited by SuperKat on 07-09-2002 at 10:26 PM |

Marty, I still don't understand why you pay that with State Farm. We own 4 vehicles, the Prowler is listed as a pleasure car, clean driving records, and the premium just went up to $86.00 a month. Art: For the Leland Insurance the premium was $891.00 a year. How did you get $475.00 a year. |

Ours is under $700/year. Multiple vehicles, clean records, passive restraints, anti-theft discount, and low mileage discount. We are not limited on miles, but I low balled (guessed at 5K)the mileage as they are both listed as pleasure vehicles. This message has been edited by purplecat on 07-10-2002 at 07:47 PM |

For insurance, location is a HUGE factor. A history of a lot of serious accidents is one factor but the car theft industry is the biggest, I think. |

When I wanna go... I go Things ARE cheaper down south! ------------------ |

Your age (especially if over 50) has allot to do with the rate. So does the City, State and even County that you live in. When I moved from SLC UT to Atlanta GA my rate quadrupled for the same vehicles. In fact I had an RX7 and had a hard time finding anyone to insure it. They would sign me up but then cancel me reason given was Sports Car Liability. Insurance on out van also quadrupled. Another factor is the is the amount of deductable you carry. Also if you have young drivers in the house even if they don't drive the Kat that counts against still. |
