I got mine on Friday... I wish that I could go to New York City and play a game of Monolopy on 5th Ave. at Rockefeller Center , for this High Voltage Blue Prowler game piece as the prize....Then I would drive it over to Boardwalk and pass "GO" to collect my $200.00.....that would be a fun game to play.... ------------------ This message has been edited by pauley on 05-04-2002 at 09:45 AM |

I plan on attending the auction even though I don't have the cash flow to buy the car. I received the auction catalog from Christie's on Thursday. The estimated bid price that is listed in the catalog is $40-60K. If anyone wants me to be an on-site proxy for them, let me know. Or, you can place a silent bid through various ways. Call the number for Christie's, and the people on the line will help you. ------------------ |

Steve - you can bid for me up to 60K. That is pecos, right? On the auction day I'll be out on the playground. I know what they mean, "separate the men from the boys". You might want to be on 'stand-by' to get Reliable Carriers set up to haul this one to Texas ------------------ |

I want so bad to drive my Kat down to NY City, but I just can't convince myself that I can leave my SPCL-T w/ or in street parking. I am going to call Christie's before I take the trip; but, I bet I drive the PT instead. Any input or guidance would be appreciated. I've actually never been to NY City. I've always' driven around it. Times sure are changing. ------------------ |

Steve - call Butchcee, park the cat at his place, and have his Talibhan neighbor drive you to the auction in his cab. |

Steve, do yourself a favor. Book a flight into LGA or JFK and cab to the city. Parking is either non-existent or outrageously priced. The roads and traffic are terrible and you'll be playing bumper cars with the cabbies. It takes a special type of person to live in and love the city. I aint that special. JMO I'll be at a boat race that weekend. ------------------ |

SPCL-T, listen to Butchcee. Parking was $ 20 an hour back in 1981. Hard telling what it costs now. Street parking is non existent in mid-town Manhattan and English is not the main language of most drivers. Your car would probably be stolen, anyway. ------------------ |

Take Butchee's advice and fly into Laguardia or JFK, and take a cab into Manhattan. I've taken scores of business trips into New York - Manhattan ain't a place for your personal car. I spent 1.5 hours one time with my wife trying to find a parking spot in lower Manhattan - this is hard for a country boy. Another option is to drive out to Long Island a little ways, and take the train into Manhattan, that is what I usually did. |

If you drive, use the Rockefeller Center Garage next to NBC on 48th/49th (2 entrances) between 5th and 6th. They are very careful, especially if you "discuss" the situation with the attendant. Each floor has its own attendant, and while they actually park your vehicle, the car stays on the particular floor you leave it, and they don't pack them in. I use it all the time, and never have a problem. |
