First let me say that the top makes the car look GREAT. Again, I'm not trying to scare anyone but, this is my second top. The reason it's the second one is because the first one had to be replaced. The first one the headliner came loose and the first time I put it on the seals came loose. The seals shouldn't be glued on. They need to be screwed on at a minimum and even if they were screwed on they would still tear. By the way I do treat the seals. Any thoughts Norb? ------------------ |

quote: Really classy Ben! If I was Norb or TGF I would tell you to take a hike. A very long one. You ordered it, they shipped it and only charged your card when the top was shipped. Seems to be no problem here. Calling someone names, especially online or in public is really STUPID and is a very poor way to get good customer service. Even if the service has been bad, the worst possible thing to do is start calling names or degrading the manufacturers product. if you want good service maybe you should act like you deserve it. I resent the name calling. This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 01-07-2002 at 12:35 AM |

I agree Larry. Name calling isn't necessary. I'm just looking for a solution. Sorry if I offended anyone. That wasn't my intent. Norb has always been responsive. However I think we need a fix here. ------------------ |

Bill, I don't blame you for looking for a solution to a problem that you have had with your top it sounds like a few others have had some problems also. I would be doing the same myself. My last post was not intended for you. I feel it only fair to also say that many people have purchased these tops and are either being silent or are completely happy with their purchase. Four or five vocal people can make a product look very bad and do much damage to a vendor even if many many people have been satisfied with the product and service. My point was that if a customer expects good service, it is that customers responsibility to communicate with the vendor in a non threatening, businesslike and decent manner. This will normally help both parties find a mutually workable soultion. |

Sorry everyone, I've been away over the weekend and have not been near a computer. First thing to Ben, We know that the first generation hardtops have some design issues with the door window seals. Gluing them in was not the ideal design. I have tried to correct every problem that has been known to me. I did not know that any of these current issues were happening with you all. Please call me directly at (800) 518-4364 and we can come to some sort of solution. We haven't designed a retro seal kit for the first generation top to help with issues yet. But I'm sure I can talk with my engineers to check it out. The second generation hardtop has the factory seal retainers, which are adjustable, in the door window seal area. The window seals themselves are manufactured by the OEM seal company that produces the 3-piece seal for the convertible top. We just have them produce it for us in one piece. These seal retainers are screwed in place and then the seals are pressed in by hand. If these are not fitting correctly, THEY CAN BE ADJUSTED! The only seal we do not use off the convertible top is the seal that rides on the underside of the hardtop along the deck lid. The factory seal is not beefy enough for the 38 pound weight of our hardtop. We have chosen a D-shape seal from Trim-Lok that may settle over time and the rear pins of the hardtop may loosen up. Again, THESE CAN BE ADJUSTED! There is not a part on this second generation hardtop that cannot be adjusted. These Prowlers have a build tolerance greater than you average production based vehicle. I have every hardtop fit to our Prowler, not some jig sitting on a bench in the shop, but an actual Prowler before they are packaged and sent to you. As the installation instructions included with every hardtop suggest, "THERE MAY BE SOME ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED TO INSURE A PROPER FIT". These Prowlers are also a convertible based vehicle with a lot of body flex. When installing our hardtop, please do not think that this will cure this body flex. Because of this body flex, at some point the hardtop may need to be readjusted for a tight fit. I can't stress enough that if any customer of mine that has issues with any of our products, PLEASE CALL ME! I cannot help you if you do not make me aware of them. Current production is on schedule for anyone concerned with your orders. I have sold over 75 of the second generation hardtops in the last 6 months since it's debut. I am here to help! ------------------ |

Sassy, All hardtops are 2nd generation and have been since May of 2001. I have not had a 1st generation hardtop available for over a year now! ------------------ |

Tom Cat, If I don't have your color in stock, I will have to paint one up and that lead time is approx. 3 weeks. I have 2 black, 1 red, and 1 silver in stock. I also have 9 orders for hardtops currently that will be completed and shipped by 1/18/02. For furthur info on hardtops or any other of my products, please click on to my email address at the bottom of my posts so I can get back with you directly. I would prefer, as I am sure Mike Krehel would prefer, not to tie up this forum for these type of questions. It's not that I don't want to answer any questions, I can give you better personal service that way. We also have a toll free number, 800 518-4364 that is directly to my desk. Please leave a message if I don't promptly pick up. I will return your call! As Bartle & James use to say, "Thank you for your support". ------------------ |

Thanks Mike and Al I am on the road and this lap top keyboard drives me nuts... Anyway, first I think that a clear protector is a must not only for the hard top, but soft top too. I have a guy that can cut them custom for me. I will see him this spring. If I can get him to cut several, I will post them for sale. JD knows him too, Zoel. My black tie & Mull's trunk lid looked bad after a month. This is a must, like flaps. Sassy This message has been edited by SasyMama on 01-07-2002 at 07:15 PM |

I have to say, I watched Norb install one of the hard tops here in Dallas last month. Yes they need a little tweeking, but who around here hasn't had to adjust one thing or another. The fit and finish were excellent. I just hope that with the demise of the Prowler that it doesn't make these vendors just stop building anything new and innovative for our cars. I have the first generation hardtop and I LOVE IT!! I just want to say thanks to Norb for building the hardtop if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have it. If you don't have one you should get one, since Winter has come I have had mine on. Well here in Dallas today at Phill's funeral we had 13 Prowlers with at least half of them having hard tops on and I didn't here one complaint about them. So once again thanks Norb for giving us the option of having a hard top for our Prowlers. Chris ------------------ |
