Go to DurangoColorado.com Jan. The tickets are cheap and you need a resevation.Atleast we did in the winter. Great ride in the winter. Im sure its just as nice in the summer. Pack a picnic lunch. They have a great picnic area 1/2 way to Silverton.

Fred......I'm glad I'm not the only one who has some common sense! Don't drive over it, don't walk over it. Did that once in my lifetime and that was more than enough, thank you! I'll have to make sure I have my zoom lens on my camera so I'll be able to get close-ups of the terror on the faces of those who think they're brave! lol!

Here is another link to a website that says they are the Official Durango-Silverton Train website!

Alex,

Jack and I could tag along with you on the practice run!? You could fill our car with gas, treat us to finest restaurants and we could objectively critique any entertainment you provided us. Let us know when you are going to do this test run FOR Marc. (Even if you don't pay, it sounds like fun).

Hugs and (wet dog) Kisses

Jan - I've been over that Royal Gorge bridge several times and am not afraid of that old structure - its perfectly safe! No flying catfish!

I'd be more concerned about that old railroad track you want to ride on When the tracks give way and you slide down the mountain canyon walls about 1,000 feet, don't worry, I'll have Lethia drive your cat back to Phx

Chromer - do the run with Alex,,,,,this will be a good first test for Jack on his driving talents. Buckle up!

CJ and Fred - The fall won't kill you, its just that sudden stop at the bottom. Gheezzzzz
OK, we are all taking the Incline Ride down to the bottom - its a safe RUSH No chickening out!

The bridge was totally reconstructed a few years ago. I was there when they were working on it in 1984 or so. At that time you could not drive over it, foot traffic only.
The ride down the side is similar to an elevator ride, it does not move very fast at all.
The bridge is only about 1050 feet above the river, just make a shallow dive. lol
