If you're out there lurking and thinking about it, just do it. Getting together with other Prowler people and cruising together is one of the best times you'll ever have. Put in your vote so it works out the best way it can for everyone. ------------------ |

Is this a great country or what? Alley Cat is worried about getting time off from a job he doesn't have and having other associates call him in sick. I like people who plan ahead and take the positive approach. Way to go Sasquatch. I'll call in for you as long as it is in June. Sandy and I just got back from Albuquerque. On the way to the airport I saw a wild turkey fly for the first time in my life. He flew across 5 lanes of interstate traffic to get back with his "flock" or whatever a bunch of turkeys are called. (don't go there). We rented a car in Albuq. and drove about 4 blocks. I was waiting to turn right on RED with one car approaching from my left. I looked up and the only other vehicle in sight was coming toward us and obviously not going to stop for the light. They were both going about 35 MPH and the woman coming from my left struck the right rear of the jeep who ran the light. The jeep did a 360 roll and came to rest upright on its wheels. The other car's air bag deployed. No one had a scratch, miraculously. The jeep had a hardtop on it and one window popped out. I was sure that it was going to be a fatal. I ran to the jeep and Sandy went to the other car which was filled with smoke. The guy in the jeep said, "You saw it all, didn't you? I had a green light." I told him he was out of luck as his light was red. We were in town a few minutes, literally and almost got hit by both vehicles. I still can't believe all 3 people got out of their cars on their own without a scratch. WEAR YOUR SEAT BELTS. The cops got there and couldn't figure out what our part in the accident was, when I told them the Jeep had rolled all the way over they just looked at me and then took a closer look at the Jeep. Those things are a lot sturdier than they look. Our plane landed in Dallas and we had to sit on the runway for about 35 or 40 minutes. We thought we missed our flight but they had plane trouble. We finally got a diff. plane and made it home. We thought we had it bad until we talked to a woman next to us. She flew from Buffalo, NY to Chicago and then to Phoenix. They diverted to AlbuQ. due to mechanical problems. She then got on our flight back to Dallas (and waited on the runway) and then was going to catch a flight to Phoenix. Talk about a long flight. We didn't feel quite so bad after that. I have a lot of trouble getting home from Texas in November, it seems. Okay, now vote for June. ------------------ |

Ed - I'm glad U R back safely. Yes, I'm planning my next year's vacation now even without the new job. I will tell next employer that I'm invited to be the main guest speaker at the 2002 Worn-out Intrepid Club national car show, and need those days off.

Ed, what an experience. Us old guys know how to stay alive. GOT THAT OUT THERE? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS. Umpteen statistical studies tell the story. I would have died in 1967 if I had not been wearing a seat belt. I went off the San Diego Freeway at 60 mph in heavy rain--I hit an unexpected puddle--bounced off the center fence and then went across what happened to be 5 empty lanes and then off a 30 foot embankment in a 56 Chevy (with a 327 & 4 speed) and I was not doing anything out of the ordinary! I landed looking at the front door of a house and I was very sore but unhurt. ------------------ This message has been edited by catterumpus on 11-15-2001 at 09:14 PM |

Ed, In the Black Hills of SD in the fall turkeys are a common sight. It you nail one with your car you don't get to keep it (strict game rules) but they can do a lot of damage. I'm not a hunter (my heart isn't in killing something) but they really taste good if you get one. If you're ever driving and by chance hit one, don't say anything, take it home, cook it and eat it before anyone finds the evidence. basic black cat with flames 2000 no bumpers and tgf metalcrafter front & rear borla with stock tips and no baffles ceramic front brakes Donny's one-off zit covers and rear bumperettes This message has been edited by catterumpus on 11-15-2001 at 09:24 PM |

Donny - is there a subliminal message in that text, telling me that you are to be serving me road kill turkey on my next trip to South Dakota? Is Ed sending you that carcass in dry ice? What friends I have! |

It's nice to see that so many people cast their votes and expressed their opinions. I am sure Marc, Alex and Laddie will plan a great event where all POA people will have a wonderful time. THe cruises will be fantastic. ATTN: ALLEY CAT - I still can't get Rebecca to tell me anything about her visiting Phoenix in February - but since I travel a lot that time of year, maybe she is planning on slipping away without my knowing it!! Here's a thought for you. Why don't you fly to Louisville and drive our Prowler with her to Colorado and I will fly in to Denver on June 7th when my work in Charlotte ends - otherwise I don't think I can talk her into driving 20 hours to Colorado by herself. Maybe we can fly in an rent a PT like you had at Woodward. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Marty - If I drive your cat and Rebecca to Denver it will take 2 days and 4 NIGHTS to get there! Afterwards, she would demand that I make the return trip with her...and probably turn me into a WILDCAT! Maybe load the cat on MeanGene's transporter and fly out. Or just fly out and rent a PT, Prowler, or Vette to fly up and down the mountains with us! U R going! Plan on it! Rebecca, remember the fun we had last February? |

Thanks, guys, for organizing things. Folks, if your schedule doesn't fit the June 7-10 dates at this point, sell something, bribe your supervisor or do whatever you have to do to come join us. If you love your Prowler and love to drive, it will be the best time you've ever had. If it's convenient for anyone coming down from the north to come along I90 through Rapid City, SD and the Black Hills, stay in Rapid City on Thurs, June 6 and we can all catavan to Denver on Fri, June 7. If you come a day or two earlier we could do some Black Hills cruising together. ------------------ This message has been edited by catterumpus on 11-16-2001 at 10:58 PM |
