Hey Steve. The minimum ceiling height would be approx: car 1 height + car 2 height + 12". My ceiling is 9'3", the Viper is a little under 4' and the Prowler is a little over 4' and I have 3-4" to spare. I got my lift from Backyardbuddy.com. I had 2 foot pads custom cut and it took about a month or so. I paid $3000 for the 7000# lift. Shipping is around $150 on a freight truck. I paid my local garage $80 to recieve it and deliver to my driveway on flatbed car hauler. Other companies make similar products, Cytech calls theirs Doublepark. I liked this one because the pump unit is mounted inline with the post as opposed to on the outside of the post which would make it impossible for my wife to pull the van in next to it!! I installed it myself in 2 afternoons, I would suggest at least 2 people though. The rails are very heavy. I used levers, dollies, jacks, brains (or lack of!), muscles. Although heavy, installation is pretty straightforward, instructions were adequate. If you would more info or pictures, let me know. Email your phone # if you would like to talk about it. I'm very happy with being able to keep both cars in garage and let my wife park inside too. Plus you can do mainenance and underside work much easier with cars up the air. ------------------ |

Welcome Steve - you will find POA to be much more than an organization. It is a GREAT bunch of people!! If you talk with Andy about the lift, be sure to ask about clearance for garage door. His fits very nicely in garage, but when open, door is within inches of top car. I think he had to make slight adjustment so door would not hit vehicle. Just be sure you have enough room for your application. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

That's right Marty, like in carpentry, measure twice, cut once!. With the Viper on top, the door comes very close to bumping into the back of the trunk. I pull the Viper up to the very end of the garage and I did adjust to garage door opener to pull the door back an inch or two less. The Prowler is no problem on top because the garage door comes back above the trunk area. ------------------ This message has been edited by Andy R on 09-18-2001 at 10:33 AM |

Andy - BTW, I wish I needed a lift, especially for a Viper/Prowler combination. It just wouldn't look the same if I decide to buy an decade old Skylark with hail damage to drive this winter!! Look forward to seeing you all in October hopefully. Marty ------------------ |
