Ben, As a general rule,,when you shop for the lesser price, you will usually find the lesser product. Your statement is exactly the reason that I haven't put these hoses into my inventory. Most shoppers are too short sighted to look for quality when making their purchases and I don't sell junk! Thanks Laddie! Laddie ... you mean that high preasure foam is not meant for the interior? Damn ... no wonder I kept getting wet when sitting back down in the car! Yuppers, even with windows up, gotta watch those edges and weatherstrip seams ... Andy R ... no problemo, my friend, guess that plug earns me a free wash next time through ... as I will be leaving my hose at home where it belongs. |

Here's the full info and the best I can do on pricing for the hoses. Take it or leave it. These hoses have brass connectors (not plastic), are MADE IN USA and also have a 5 year warranty! Solid colors available are; Green , Red, Blue and Hunter Green. Before anybody else says that they cost too much and that you can get them cheaper somplace else, let me say, PLEASE DO! I am only offering these to give people a source to buy a quality hose. Are they expensive? You bet! But so was my car. If I only shopped price, I'd be pushing a Yugo instead of driving a Prowler. Larry, Just an FYI but I got a wire from a gentlemen that has wasted $100 bucks in time looking for one of these hoses on the cheap at Loews. First, Loews doesn't carry them anymore. Second, There may still be a few stores someplace that have them but you could grap your sleeping bag and leave Coulton and search the greater Los Angeles area for 3 days and not find one. Third, If you did find one, you would discover it wouldn't work. The one that Loews used to carry was made for gardners to water their indoor plants with a watering wand. It has a non standard, small fitting at the nozzle end. Accordingly you can NOT attach a standard hose nozzle and you can't wash your car with a two foot watering wand. And fourth, it is not the same quality that you are offering. |

Here's a note I received from Roger Freeman about the hose he purchased from Griots Garage. "The coils themselves are 3 inches (diameter), larger than I thought. ------------------ |

Larry... you mean you did not intentionally leave the window down? ------------------ |

Of course you could do it the professional way like I did, drive through one and leave the window down... ------------------ |

Why not leave tthe top down too. There are two advantages. 1. Your interior gets the same cleaniong treatment. And 2. There is no worry about the brushs messing up the soft top. ------------------ |

well, actually, I was smart enough to do that with my Van... Larry has the advantage to have given it a Prowler run through to make sure it worked well and all. ------------------ |

I think the solution to this is a combination of several events in the past. Go to Home Depot to buy the coiled hose, when you come out a good looking young babe is supposed to be in your car. When she tells you she would like a ride in your hot rod and "will do anything" for a ride, take her around back and let her wash your car. |

When I was a kid, my father had a hose system that I've been trying to find again for years. It was made by Toro (the lawn mower company). It was 50 feet of flat hose in a red plastic "cartridge". The whole thing was about 12" x 18" x 1.5" thick. The center was a a reel type device that had a hole where the sprayer end fit. The hose went through a slot in between two pincher type rollers that squeezed all the water out when you wound the hose into the cartridge. The back end of it was a handle that you held while you wound the reel. The hose was some sort of cloth covered material similar to a fire hose as I recall. You connected the bib end to the faucet and just walked out into the yard spooling the hose behind you. At the end, you unclipped the sprayer end from the cartridge and set it aside. When you were finished, you clipped the sprayer end back in, disconnected the faucet end and wound the reel. All the water would get pushed out the faucet end and you'd hang the whole thing on the peg board in the garage. It was the coolest thing! This thing would be perfect for the trunk of the Prowler. Way better than the coiled hose mentioned above. If it still exists. My Dad and I bought this at the hardware store years ago for $20.00. Of course it disappeared over the years and I've been trying to find another one ever since. I've had friends tell me that they've seen them in Marine stores, but I've never been able to find one there. I think if they're still made, there'd be a lot of Prowler owners, and even car show people in general, that'd buy them off the shelves. Anyone have or have seen one of these things lately? Dave |

I received my hose from Griot's. First this will NOT fit in a zip lock baggie. However it is very compact and will take little space in my trailer. The box it was packed in measures 7 3/4 in wide, 3 1/2 in deep, 22" long. It fit just perfectly in this container. Second there is no way this hose could be purchased anywhere for $14.95. The fittings are heavy brass and it is very well constructed. The spray nozel is very high quality and you would probably pay $14.95 or more for it alone. The hose works great. The water pressure is identical to my regular outside hose. It may be a little pricey as hoses go but I am very happy with it and I'm looking forward to never having to wind the hose up again. I'm taking the hose to Woodward with me, Yeah there are car washes available, but I have never been able to do as good of job as I can with a hose that i can turn on and off at will without worrying about running out of time and a bucket of soap. ------------------ This message has been edited by BeWare on 08-09-2001 at 10:09 PM |

Just wanted to offer one small piece of advice for those that wash their cars with shampoo. I'm pretty sure that shampoo, just like dish soap, will remove the wax from your paint. You may think you're saving your wax job by not going to the spray 'n' wash, but not if you're washing with shampoo. You should always use dedicated auto shampoo, I prefer the Meguiar's gel (red, in a smaller bottle, not the new big jug they came out with). Please correct me if I am misinformed. |

There were some that posted to this subject that implied Griots is out to make a fast buck. Perhaps, but I have been ordering from them for the past year and I have found consistently high quality in all their products. Personally, I would rather spend more now for a quality product than to have to spend less and get less. After the investment in my Kat and all the toys I have put in it, a couple extra dollars for quality is worth it. I have found all of my dealings with POA member vendors has been a high quality experience, and value that. I also value the availability of vendors like Griots. I'm sure most Kat owners feel the same. LOL |
