Let me see if I am tracking this correctly.........

Dean researched and developed specifications for the gears and chain set and approached Borg Warner, the OE supplier to DC, to produce his unique ratio set. Which they did. Enter Tony, who approaches Borg Warner about selling him the gears and chain set. Which they did.

Not trying to side with anyone, but where is Borg Warner's responsibility to their original and only customer. Should they have and could have said "no" to Tony??? But they didn't.................

Gary,

I am glad that you ask because our installation team is poised to try the plastic gears in a high horsepower environment. So far, our tests seem to indicate that they can withstand up to 10,000 RHP and 200 PSI. Naturally, tests are one thing, actually surviving a field installation is another.

We would be willing to do a test installation for free in order to secure an endorsement from you that would be beneficial in selling these plastic gears to other POA members. In addition, the amount that you save by having us use your car as a test bed could be applied to a future "blind" date.

Your car would be particularly beneficial for the test because it is a "hanger queen" and as such, we could now advertise a time warranty instead of just miles. As an example, we could say that our gears are track proven by "Gary C" over the last three months. No one would realize that you have a blown engine and the car didn't move. The 1.6 mile warranty is causing us some mild consternation.

Lastly, just being seen in your upscale neighborhood would enhance our company image with other POA members. Your house, and the fantastic landscaping, is the perfect backdrop for the photo shoot for our new brochure.

Thanks again for the magnanimous offer.

I guess I will raise the price of the flag caddies to $55 plus $ 12 shipping since I was the first to offer them. Otherwise someone will undercut me and sell at below cost. You cannot singlehandedly control the market in anything unless you have a patent and that is only good for 20 or 30 years and someone else can make a slight change and be legal. Why don't we bash insurance companies for awhile. They own America. If you don't like one set of gears, buy the other. If you don't like either price, do like I'm doing. Staying stock.

I never thought I'd start a feud with simply posting that you could now get the gears from Prowler Pro at a lower price now. As others have stated I am a happy camper with my set even at $2,000.00... I have found they were worth every penny.

Here are some items that I have been able to "dig" up so far. CJ, your correct in your evaluation in that it was Borg Warner which made the goof. They never should have sold a patent pending product to anyone without the written permission from the holder.. One of their sales people made that mistake and when they had it brought to their attention they stopped selling the gears to other parties. My understannding is that G-Force or anyone else cannot buy any more of the gears from Borg Warner.

I feel sure that Tony and others were trying to supply the owners with lower pricing for a popular item and they have still accomplished that in a round about way. I really think we need to move on and for those of you who now buy the set at a lower price, you'll have just as much fun as I do for the orginal price. Let the parties involved hash this out themselves.

I do know one thing, being in customer support for years, and that is that Prowler Pro supplied me with outstanding support while I installed my set. Dean went beyond the call with even helping me with questions on my NOX system which I did not buy from him. If only for that reason I'd still buy a product from him even if it was a $100.00 higher.
