I got rid of my dash/hood squeeks by using the female (soft) half of velcro in certain spots in the engine compartment and under the dash.

I first started under the dash by putting the velcro where the yellow arrows are.

I then went into the engine compartment and put the velcro in four locations. The blue arrows are where I most felt the squeeking was coming from. I felt that the rubber stops were rubbing against the hood and the green arrow points to where I thought the latch may be producing a squeek/rattle.

I also felt that the pin switch for the hood was rubbing also.

After doing this, I have not heard the squeek come back. This also tightened up the dash area and reduced rattles.

Sassy.... about 100 Oranges had hinges put on that the factory forgot to relieve (they think anyhow). This has caused the area right around the right hing where the two inside panels are riveted together to start to pull apart right away. My Orange had this problem right away and has been in the shop 3 times and last time since January 30th over this. Change that banner back!

HI
If this were my case, I would have them take the car back and exchange it.
I may change my banner back.

Sasy,
Guess I'm not in trouble. Your welcome, and it's nice to have another pretty lady on the board. Right, CJ?

and what about those of us who are not considered "pretty"? Where does that leave us? Beauty is more than skin deep, you know!

yes. and beauty to one is ugly to another and vice versa...the nice thing is, someone somewhere will consider the other quite beautiful... the problem is finding them. Both sex's have that problem... even the really cute ones... as few who are really cute think that THEY are the cute ones, or, worse... other people will think they are not approachable and thus no one approaches them.

I use Slick One lube on all my car parts that rub some how and you would not belive how quite the car is day and night. I used WD40 before, it don't compare.

PS A DC eng. said the hood hinges are the worst culprit

Prompted by Sassy's post and since the weather was nice I attacked all the noises and adjustment probs this morning.
I re-adjusted the headlight assemblys so they were lined up with the side panels and didnt rub the hood. (one was rubbing)and tightened all mounting screws. I resprayed the hinges with the panels off. I lowered the center trunk latch and adjusted the twist stops so the trunk sat lower and closed up the side gap. I also dropped the trunk hinges to move the whole thing closer to the body. All seems quiet now except for a vinyl squeak from the dash. Gonna pull that and maybe use the velcro trick that Bill talked about or just wipe the rub area with a lube. Much more fun to drive without the distracting and annoying rattles and squeaks.

You said it, I enjoy the ride more without squeaks.
I did my whole car.
