Chrome Illusion I know this has been done by a few people, John Ross I believe was the first. I would bet that DC wouldn't be able to make them fast enough to cover the demand (maybe it could be a limited edition?). ------------------ |

Just seen John and Debbie Ross tonite at the Scottsdale Pavillions weekly auto show. New paint and hood look awesome, and of course, this cat drew the largest gathering of onlookers at the show. Congrats to the Ross's for the finest, wildest Prowler - a show stopper!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Not in this case. The car looks 20,000 times better in person than any picture could ever show. It is awesome. When I saw the pictures, I thought, "ho hum" but then saw the car in person and was dazzled. |

I'm not a fan of color shift paint. Looks good on Harleys, small projects, but on a KAT, Never. JRL |

I was just thinking about this kind of paint the other day.... I saw a mustang with very similar job to John's prowler. Looks awesome... If I was painting mine, I'd have to do the silver/green I think... Mike - To what color is your "project" mullholland prowler going to be changed??? |

Sorry to report that John and Debbie Ross traded in their wild Chrome Illusion Prowler on a boat over a year ago. Last I heard the cat was traveling the country in the "Big Boys and Their Toys" circuit (???) and was for sale. I've traveled with some fine looking Prowlers in the past, but never has one other car drawn the attention and photographs that the Ross' cat did. Cost of paint? Someone once said that this paint ran $500 a pint. John tore this cat down "twice" to paint it,,,,,seems he collected afew rock chips,,,living on a gravel road before getting to the pavement. The Arizona group sure misses having John, Debbie, and their beautiful cat tagging along on the events! |

I think that paint is really neat, however, I have yet to see one in person that really stands out. I saw a 10-15yr old Chrysler convertible yesterday with a very nice quality paint job with a green/purple shift. I don't care for how different the colors are on different panels, front/side etc. Maybe with a more subtle shift my eyes could like it more. |

I've seen a couple of different cars and SUV's with it. I'm not a big fan of it. From certain angles, it looks like a vehicle with salvage parts from other cars (ie. gold doors with purple fender). Perhaps I just haven't seen it on the right vehicle. How difficult would this be to repair if scratched or in an accident? I know the paint cost is unGodly, something like $4,900.00 a gallon. |
