It made me nuts in Texas to be without my cat.....

So the minute I got home, I asked Bob when I could let the cat out of the bag and he said......AUGUST!!!

Soon, I hope.....we had two more inches of snow over the weekend.......I'm about ready to move to Texas or California!

Unless you paid $68K for it. I'm in the Houston area and if you want the names of the dealers here that have alot of them, let me know. A dealer in Galveston (forgot the name) has 5 new Prowlers and about 30 PT's out front. 5 months ago they rarely had 1 of each. And I think the days of people paying $60-70+K for these has been over for awhile (at least in this area).
My first one 2000 Silver has a dealer tag of $60+K on it about 1.5 years ago. I offered them sticker and they took it.

Just put on some studs and go out and do some donuts in the snow (I know heresy - drive a prowler in the snow).

Ahhhhhhh, Butchee........are you trying to get me in trouble with that question???????

Actually, I'm very confident..........confident that he would be flying at 30,000 feet looking for a place to land if I took the car out of the storage bag before he was able to inspect it after sitting all winter!! LOL

Bob is a fanatic when it comes to our cars.....always has been. I respect that. He has taught me well on how to take care of a vehicle. He just wants to make sure that the engine turns over properly (it was a little slow starting when we did this last year), there is proper air pressure in the tires, no leaks, etc.

I think if I twist him around my little finger just a little bit tighter, it will be out of the bag this weekend!!

Point well taken Ed. I ditched a couple underperformers to buy the car (with a few second thoughts), and even though the car market is depressed, the value of the Prowler has held up far better than those dogs. Nice to make a good choice occasionally even if only a stroke of luck. Remember you can drive the car for fun, and the portfolio will only drive you nuts!

Just to add to the mix, there is a dealer in the Philadelphia area that can get brand new Sparkle Oranges for about $42,000. He tells me that other dealers who have them and cant move them sell them at auction and this guy picks them up for below retail. Either no one likes orange, or the day of the tight prowler market is over. He only buys once a month and he can get other colors as well. I am not sure of the validity of his response, but he was ready to move on locating an orange one for auction this month. Who knows?

Wow! Did I stir up some stuff or what? OK, here are my reasons.

1) Why didn't they make a "Chrysler" bumper for the left side?

2) How many people have seen the Chrysler Prowler brochure? I was able to look at the one that was given to Patrick and had some thoughts. Looking at the available colors, it seemed as if they only showed orange and blue. That tells me, they plan to build some more orange; called Chrysler, and with possibly a few more blue...that would be IT!!!!!

3) As far as cost cutting, not only did they not change the bumper to Chrysler, they DID NOT make the floor mats blue. Again, possible cost cutting. I agree about the dark blue not contrasting enuff with the black, BUT I also agree that they could have used the pin stripe light blue.

4) In regards to CJ's thoughts about the plant, has anyone thought about the fact that the 2003 VIPER will start production in 2002? If the Kat is built till the end of the year, that wouldn't be too much time for only one car to be being built there. Personally, I can't see the car being built after the summer. Not unless they plan to build GOBS of orange and blue. Or, spend MORE money updating the Chrysler Prowler brochure AGAIN. I'm thinking the German COST CUTTERS won't go for that.

OK, I await your thoughts on my theories.

Well JP.....I am at least going to disagree with #2 and that very well may blow your theory to heck!!!

Are you saying that you spoke to someone at Chrysler and they said no more after Blue or are you saying the remaining Blue are called Chrysler? Neither meaning is correct.

I know this for fact. I am going to be driving the Hot Rod Power Tour and they were trying to arrange for me to drive the new color on the tour. Unfortunately for me, just a few weeks after the tour is over is the Press day at which time they will be showing the new color. It has been at a photo shoot for marketing pics/brochures, etc. At this time, there is only built with the new color and they decided they did not want to risk any road damage to it before Press Day and before they get a few more built. Understandable. So, they are having me drive a Sparkle Orange one instead. I'm disappointed, it would have been fun to preview it for them.

So..... they are building more, there is a new color. Yes, I know what it is, but cannot comment!

Dave, I don't mean to tease.....what I said was the absolute truth! The only reason I told that much was because I wanted everyone to know the truth. Speculation is just that, and frankly, I think that the constant speculation is only good for winning a T-shirt!

I would love to be able to tell you the color, but I like to eat once in a while......

Cliff, they won't produce two shades of blue. Green is next, from a VERY reliable source that I can't name. I love the Mulholland too. That may be my favorite color so far.

I can tell you here in the Northeast they can't give them away. A friend who's in the car business says that at the auctions several have come up on the auction block with no bids. Some have been sold at invoice or less. These were
Black Ties, Orange, yellows, etc...

It's volume and the prowler never was a high volume car.

Since the year it came out (1997) they have only built about 6000. A car like the corvette produces about 35,000 A YEAR. Now that is 6000 built to date but not sold to date. There are probably 1000+ sitting around the country that are not sold.

I also don't think Chrysler makes alot, if anything, off of the car. If the dealer was asking $5-10-20K over sticker, that was for him, not Chrysler.

I like the car but, I give it another year, maybe two at the tops and it is history.
