Using a Actron CP9690... Have codes P0700 (45) and P0731 (mod41)

Is a good diagnostic reader needed to properly reset the Transmission Control Module.

I have a car that just sits.... and now has shifts like you popped a clutch on a manual transmission, the wheels will actually chirp. It will go through all the gears but obviously is most dramatic from first to second.

I replaced the sensors just because that was easy, no difference. Now I want to reset the TCM as step two. I've removed the battery before to no avail. I now actually have it out as it needs replacement... Once I replace it, what's the process of resetting the TCM.

(Car sits in a temped garage 55 to 75 degrees.)

It's worth noting, I have two prowlers. So I know what normal shifting is like. This one was normal.

Please post in only one area, you'll get better results.

P0700 is a catch all code for trans shifting malfunction.

P0731 code is probably caused by a bad/sticking "Solenoid Control Pack".

But before replacing Pack, I would remove TCM connector and reinstall. Do this a few times to clean connections. Same to connector on transmission end.

This Pack receives signals from TCM to electrical operate solenoids that route fluid controlling shift functions.

Solenoid Pack is accessible after removing trans oil pan and valve body.

You can do this yourself if your mechanically inclined and patient. You may or may not have to remove rear cross member under trans oil pan.

This video is for our transmission, 42LE, although car shown is Intrepid;

Has this car ever had the transmission fluid changed?

How many miles on it?

I think less than 3,000 miles on it.. and trans fluid has not been changed.
