Jammer its a snap to take off. It is one piece and you just pry it off. Two snaps on the top, two on the bottom. Two electrical connectons, when you get the bezel off you can see them. Had ours painted black, hope this helps.

Norm - why black instead of orange? Just wondering. Any finished pics viewing both the dash cluster and bezel together.

Well we thought of orange but we didn't want the bezel to really stand out. If we painted it orange we may of thought of other things we could paint orange and the list would get larger. The bezel black and with Jay's chrome radio bezel shimmer ( we won ) it looks nice and original. We even painted our tach black.

Norm - I got the dash trim bezel out for painting,,,,,,removed the audio adjuster, but how does the "power aux. outlet" come out of the bezel before painting?

Anyone know who 'has' removed it? I read the service manual and it says two locking tabs,,,,,but the tabs on the back side don't seem to budge???

thanks for any assistance

Since it has been about nine months since we did this, it took a little while to remember. It was tricky to figure out, but if our minds are working (hey, it is after midnight - way past our bedtime), it is a two step process. The sleeve (silver/orange parts) has to be released before the black plastic piece with attached cover can be removed. Here are two pics, before and after, maybe you can see how it came apart.

Dan and Norm - Thanks to both of you for providing the needed info. I had my best three guys on it at the car show last saturday,,,,and we all came away scratching our heads, lol. Short of breaking the whole damn bezel, we couldn't figure it out.

Norm - didn't mean to keep you up past your bedtime,,,really sorry! Next time I have a question like that,,,I'll wait until the AM hours to ask it

Dan - you've been real quiet lately. L.Lord and I want you to make the trip east with us in June,,,,,are you working on it?

Thanks again guys!
AC

Not a problem, my hourly rates for overtime have gone up considerably since the price of gas has gone up. You can use PayPal to pay the bill which should come to $.24 US. . . . .

Oh, by the way, did you get it off? . .

Norm - the parts are over at the painter's. When I take the paint and clear over,,,,I'll try one more time to get it out of the bezel.

24 cents U.S.? I can afford the "pumkin help" rates, lol.

Thanks again
