Just bought an orange 01 Prowler. Has red back in in 2001 (I am Tim on the board from back then but couldn't recover my password). This one has a Borla. Frankly I don't like the tips or loud noise. Anyone here found a subtle tone exhaust muffler replacement that's closer to stock sound so I am not paying 400 bucks for a simple muffler? TIA. |

Welcome back Tim. I installed the 24 inch srainless steel sweet thunders last fall and they aren't too loud driving around town but they get to you on a trip. |

P.M sent. Yeah, I am thinking about a subtle flowmaster, a friend suggested the 70 series and spotted these tips which would give it a similar look to stock, if not improved: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/flo-15362/overview/ http://youtu.be/ckgCrdd1twA?t=1m58s |

Those tips look just like the stock tips and I don't think there is any room for those flowmasters under the Prowler. The tunnel is very narrow and Muffler has to be long and skinny. |

Tim From the pics you sent me I don't believe you have a borla exhaust system, looks home made, if it is in fact hung the way your picture shows it looks like they are solid mounted in the rear but I could be wrong. In your e-mail you said the muffler tips are on Borla's site so that might be the only part that is borla. Could you post those pics on this post??? toys This message has been edited by toys on 06-22-2013 at 04:57 PM |

They have a couple of them but this looks close: http://www.borla.com/products/single_square_anglecut_intercooled_tips.html Maybe thats why it's so loud. The end has an s-bend to get the tips there and it looks stupid (to me). I mentioned to someone I see rusting L brackets and the pipes don;t look Borla quality so it's all coming together... sadly. As mentioned I will climb under it this week and see what the exhaust says. |

Yeah, we have decided it has to be a hack and slash. I really hate people who are cheap when it comes to their cars. There was no reason to cut costs like that. Oh well, I would have bought it anyway, guess that ones heading to the scrap yard. |
