What started out to be a few people asking if they could hang out with us at Woodward Dream Cruise.....has now evolved into a full-blown POA event!!! As I have said from the beginning, this event is going to be a relaxing, low-key, but fun event. The reason everyone is coming to this event is to enjoy a week of the 10th Anniversary of Cruising on Woodward with lots of people and lots of hot rods!!! To focus on that, I am only planning a few low-key activities. There won't be non-stop driving around, running from place to place activity. I am looking forward to having everyone go cruising together and spending the rest of the time visiting and relaxing together. I think that we will have a great time.

I will be providing event information, including restaurant lists and maps for all attendees.

There is no event fee or registration fee. The only meal that will be organized and will require a fee is Saturday night's meal. All other meals are per the itinerary and at your own expense. Please see the separate thread on this part of the event. The Aspen Restaurant

Attendees will be arriving every day of the week prior to Dream Cruise Saturday, so we will find things to do each day. Below is a tentative schedule of activities starting with Thursday. I am still waiting on confirmation of a couple of things, so I am not going to post specific times for everything, just the days. I will update the itinerary the middle of next week with further information. If you have any questions at this time, please post on this thread or email me.

Monday, August 16

Arrival day for some attendees

Tuesday, August 17

Arrival day for some attendees

Wednesday, August 18

Arrival day for some attendees
Possible trip to Frankenmuth, MI

Thursday, August 19

Breakfast is on your own.

9:30 am - Meet at Homestead Suites Hotel for departure to Harold Sullivan Mopar Collection

10:30 am - 12:30 pm - Harold Sullivan Mopar Collection Tour

1:00 pm - Quick lunch at nearby restaurants

Hang out at CJ's house or you can go back to your hotel until dinner time.

5:00 pm - We will travel to Big Buck Brewery for dinner. Anyone who hangs out at my house will travel together to the Homestead to pick up anyone who decides to go back to the hotel (or anything you choose to do) and will then proceed as a group to the restaurant.

6:30 pm (approx.) We will travel to Woodward Avenue as a group to do some serious Cruisin'!

Friday, August 20

Breakfast is on your own.

9:00 am - We will meet at the Homestead Suites Hotel and travel to the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant store for some Prowler merchandise shopping! (tentative)

10:00 am - Conner Avenue Assembly Plant Store (tentative)

12:00 pm - Lunch. We will travel from the plant back to the hotel area where there are several restaurants to choose from for lunch.

1:30 pm - Walter P. Chrysler Museum - after a visit to the Museum, we will gather out front for a photo op. Bring your cameras to take your own pictures.

Hang out at CJ's house or you can go back to your hotel until dinner time.

5:00 pm - We will again travel to Big Buck Brewery for dinner. Anyone who hangs out at my house will travel together to the Homestead to pick up anyone who decides to go back to the hotel (or anything you choose to do) and will then proceed as a group to the restaurant.

I am choosing this restaurant again, because it is very large and is the only one in the area that can accomodate a large group quickly.

Friday night is the kick-off night for Dream Cruise on Saturday. Each city involved in the cruise has lots of activities going on Friday night. I will be providing all that information for you. If anyone wants to go to some of the specific city activities, you can do that, or we can all cruise together up and down Woodward and show those hot rodders who's boss!

Saturday, August 21 - Woodward Dream Cruise 2004

Breakfast is on your own.

9:00 am - We will meet at the Homestead Suites Hotel and depart for Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise 2004 as a group. Based on past experience, we will be able to do some serious cruising until about approx. 1:00 pm when it will start getting tougher to actually cruise. I am working with DC on parking at the epicenter of the activities, which is the intersection at 13 Mile & Woodward. They will, again, have their display set up at this intersection in the Northwoods Shopping Center. A block west of this intersection is a high school parking lot that DC takes over for the cruise, also. I am awaiting confirmation for the parking spaces there for all of us. It doesn't get much better than that for parking. At that time, we can walk the DC display and up and down Woodward to watch the cruisers. They also have merchandise booths set up all along Woodward.

4:00 pm - We will all meet back at the parking lot and leave Woodward Avenue as a group. We will cruise together, making our way down Woodward. Depending on traffic, we will either exit Woodward at Square Lake Road or if traffic isn't bad we can continue all the way to Pontiac. Either way, we will hook up with M-59 and travel to the restaurant for dinner. They will begin shutting off Woodward at 9:00 pm. At that point, it turns into a nightmare getting anywhere. That's why we are leaving early enough to get to the restaurant on time.

7:00 pm - The Aspen Restaurant for the POA dinner

After dinner we can hang out at our house or you can return to your hotel.

Sunday, August 22

If anyone wants to get together for breakfast before they depart for home, we can do that.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!!

Marty.........there will be several opportunities to set the record......should we invite the Guiness Book of World Records to come out and verify it?? Oh, yeah, don't forget your bathing suits.

Gene...........I'd be happy to help you pack after Woodward!! Especially after the shopping trip at the CAAP plant!

Ray....unfortunately, unlike in the years past, the concept vehicles will be in the process of being shipped out to several different events and they won't have time to give us a tour. However, I was at the Museum today and they have several of them there. They will still be there during Dream Cruise week.

Marc........lift will be available. However, I have been known to clean cars.........but I draw the line at fixing them!

Marc - I would have thought you would want a fair fight. Wouldn't it be more fun to beat him with the performance gears in? I could bring my set of ramps.

It's going to be a fun event.

Marty.......not to worry.........the RUMBLER is almost back together........the lift will be free and if not, we have ramps also!

However, police around here get pretty nasty with drag racers. It was reported on the news last night about a couple of kids drag racing and they hit a car with a woman and her young child. Pretty severe injuries. Drag racing should be saved for the strip!!

Marty, as of last night it sounds like Bob is just finishing some small details so I guess we will have to find another garage to hang out at with a cooler of beer. Course maybe JD could use our help installing his gears.
aaaaah on second thought, maybe we'll just sit in our chairs and watch.
