I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge. Started car and gauge had 49-50 psi which is normal spec.Shut car off and 20 hours later reading around 15 psi. Is this normal for it to drop like that? |

I was under impression pressure was 50 sitting 60 psi running Unless the year makes a difference. quote from another post. You need to check the fuel pump pressures first. It should be 50 key on, 60 running, then very slow drop off over hours after it's turned off. If your pressures are good, mechanically nothing is wrong with yours. quote: My answer is yes. When I was repairing a friends fuel pump, I did some comparisons with mine. I have not had any fuel problems so far, not hard to start when warm, etc. On mine, when I first hooked up fuel pressure gauge after car had been sitting for 2 weeks, fuel pressure 0 PSI. Turned key on and 50 PSI, started and running 60 PSI. Turned off and was 52PSI, 15 min later no drop, 60 minutes later 47 PSI, at 6 hours 35 PSI, and at 23 hours 19PSI. Hope this helps you. Dru, Your numbers are the same as mine. So my pressure is fine.I still have problems after car is driven then parked. Then trying to restart. It takes a few tries. I thought it was pressure. I see a few others have this problem also. |

fvee25, Your running pressure is about 10 PSI less than mine, but I don't know if that is within specs or not. Try to verify if that is within specs. Then, I'd be curious what your pressure does in the first 15-30 minutes after shut off. Does it hold steady or does it drop off. I'd also just try something, when you go to restart after sitting for a little bit, just key it to "on" for 15 seconds but don't start, then off, do it twice (that helps to build up pressure), then try to start. If it starts right up, then sounds like a fuel pressure bleed off problem. This message has been edited by dru on 06-06-2018 at 08:45 PM |
