Man that looks nice. I spend a ton of time tracking down electrical issues and that would solve a lot of them. Might need to pony up for one around bonus time. |

I've used this device. Works well. In PPECT (open circuit) mode works about 80% of the time. A lot depends on location of wire and amount of metal surrounding wire area. All in all, a good tool to have. This message has been edited by Tomcal on 10-19-2017 at 05:23 PM |

Reference was to open circuit test mode only. A Digital Frequency is sent down the suspected wire and an external, non-penetration probe, is used to hunt for where frequency is no longer detected. That correlates to point where wire is broken. If you can not get external probe near that wire or there is to much body/chassis metal nearby, Digital Frequency detection will be distorted or lost, resulting in a false location indication. If you don't need the broken wire feature, then a good Digital or Analog voltmeter will work just fine for cars. All in all a very good tool to have, with many application beyond just cars.
