Your opinion please... Is there a way to know if a Kat has upgraded gears by when it shifts? I purchased my Kat with 1300 miles on it and visibly had some things done (Painted Gold bumpers and Borla exhaust)... The classic car dealer I got it from knew nothing on its history...
That said, this Prowler seems faster then my last one many years ago... Tires are new Continentals and when I get on it, I can chirp the tires out 2nd & 3rd gears "Every time" and last gear does not kick in till 80-85mph... Is that just normal Kat performance??? If it is, my last Kat was somewhat sluggish...
Anyone with upgraded gears want to chime in on your thoughts?

Look in the trunk and see if there is a speedometer control module attached to the transmission control module.. if there is you have gears. I can't post a link to a picture from my iPad.

I thought that it was advised to NEVER allow full throttle/high RPM shifts into 4th gear, to avoid serious tranny problems

It is not recommended. The 4th gear pack is the weakest link. When we drag race at the track after the car shifts into 3rd Most put the shifter into auto stick so the car won't shift to 4th before we reach the 1/4 mile lights.

The issue with fourth gear WOT is typically with modified vehicles; V-8, supercharger, nitrous. The stock Prowler shouldn't have an issue with this shift.

Thanks for this info, do you consider a Kat with the new gears as 'modified'?

I would think that if you post your rpm's at 65 and someone will compare yours to theirs and give you an answer.

Since RPM's were brought up. If you are running 70 and turning 2800 - 3000 RPM's then you have gears. Stock will turn between 2100 & 2300 at that speed.

Also the speed control module will be mounted in the trunk near the transmission control module. I have my hidden under the carpet. The speed module is a black rectangle about 4" long and 2" wide with four wires from it to the transmission module plug. The wires are blue, black , white and red.

This differential should be in the Swiss mountains
Ideal. Am Very interested in it.
What happens in the top speed, since the entire translation has been changed. What happens with the durability of the 4 speed converter.
Has anyone a link where I can order the good part
