I have had my 2000 Prowler for 7 months and it has 2100 miles. This morning (6AM UGH) I tried to start it and had to try 3 times before it would catch (click, click). Battery was on a a trickle charger. After that it started about a dozen time all day without a problem. Also this AM, after I got it to start the numerical display on the mirror was garbage. Restarted twice and the third time it cleared itself up. I have read previous posts regarding grounding.Am I having some sort of grounding problem? Since I'm still green, be a specific as possible. I know there is a lot of knowledge on the forum and I am confident there is a simple answer out there somewhere. Thanks Ken Nelson |

Check out the negative terminal and cable on the battery for corrosion. I've had to replace mine. This message has been edited by blackcat on 01-31-2009 at 07:15 PM |

make sure the cables are also tight, you will have to pull on them and twist them.just because it looks tight, doesnt mean it is.the cable ends are steel, and stretch easily.the bolt may be as tight as can be,cable could still be loose, how old is the battery. ------------------ |

Just because you have a green eye on your battery, does't mean that is good, That eye only monitors one cell. Check your battery and the connections. |

Feel the part of the cable that is coated with the plastic. Specifically feel UNDERNEATH the cable to see if it is rubbing on the top, back edge of the battery. If it is not perfectly smooth that may be your problem. Some of them were very tight and rubbed on the battery top, causing it to short out. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked the condition of the cables and they are fine, they are tight, with some additional room to tighten, the battery reading is 12.61, it is an Interstate with a code of August 05. Can a cell be bad and the reading still be OK? Thanks again for the responses.Ken |

remove neg cable for 30 seconds,to reset the system.reinstall cable and see what happens, the batt reading sounds a little low.i would drive it a couple times and see if reading goes up.when it first didnt want to start, did it turn over normal or slow. ------------------ |

DO NOT GO BY VOLTAGE . Take the battery out of the car and have it load tested. Yes a cell can be bad and it will still show 12 volts. By having it load tested by auto parts or supplier will tell you what shape the battery is really in. Most batteries are now sealed, and do not allow for a hygrometer reading. But a load test will tell all. This message has been edited by phil2237 on 02-02-2009 at 03:05 PM |

Thanks for the responses. I'll take the car or the battery to one of the parts houses and have them do a load test. I'll let you know the results. This will also give an excuse to re-set the computer. Thanks Ken |
