Ok, here goes, I'm planning ahead !!! The emission testing facilities here in the State of Illinois s--k, they have had numerous complaints filed regarding vehicle damage, they take your car and drive it on a tread mill and beat the crap out of it, not to mention I wouldn't let any of these employees walk my dog let alone drive my cat, I know I will be getting the notice soon, so the question is any way to get an exemption ? I don't put that many miles on the car. |

Here in Pennsylvania, cars with less than 5000 annual miles are granted an exemption. Maybe Illinois has something similar? |

I can't speak for Illinois inspections, but in Az on newer cars (first tests are done after 5 years),,,they only plug into the computer searching for codes or previous emission problems. You might want to go over there first and check on their procedures for this year of car. I hear what you are saying,,,most of the people they hire for $7 an hour know nothing about cars and don't care about "your" car!!! Maybe you can get it tested at a state approved emission testing machine at some dealership or specialized auto repair facility that would suffice their paperwork requirements??? |

Want One ... tried to avoid it myself, only way out in Illinois is if the vehicle is either classified as a "show car" on insurance (State Farm does this) or as a race car (must show proof). I went with my Kat and dreaded it BUT, they do NOT drive it on the tread mill .. they just plug into the buss port ... if thye can't get a Pass reading THEN they "dyno" it ... mine went through fine ... good luck, hope this info helps (by the way ... no waiver for mileage here guys). |

Try the emission test center on North Aurora Road in Aurora, IL. They did not road test or treadmill either one of my cars and I was out and in in less than 5 minutes. I was a little anxious because my Kat just come back from Prowler Pro with considerable work including Dean's headers and performance catalytic converters. Pass with no problem, no hassles and very nice people. ------------------ |

I just took my kat in for emissions here in st.louis and I think it is the same in Ill. Later model cars are simply pluged into there computer and if no codes show up you pass. A good friend lives in Ill. and they did the same with his car also. You might call to verify. Barry |
