I have bought a 2002 Prowler with a trash engine and front. My first and only thought so far is to put in a V8 and my problem is the computers. Can I get the new or next years hemi engine to work with the Prowler gearbox and if, how? Second choice is to use the Prowler gearbox with some other V8 and for backup I can live with the Corvette engine and gearbox but I really want to stay in the family. Ulf Ivarsson from Sweden |

Ulf this is how you hook the new Hemi to a Prowler drive line . Your going to need to stretch your frame ahead 6 inches to make room for the fan and radiator see this web page |

Hello, as i wrote my Prowler is trash in the front so I'm makeing the hood and the panels in carbonfiber. The frame is all so a disaster but I have wellded two prowlerframes before so that sould be no problem for me to build a new front frame and I'm formiliar with suspensiongeoetry. So to my problem the computers, do you know if the computers from the Hemi works with the prowler gearbox. You see the Hemi is werry rare in Sweden so I have never even seen one. quote: From all the that I have been told about the swap you are wanting to do is NO THE COMPUTER WILL NOT SUPPORT THE HEMI that is in the car and the Hemi computer will not support the trans and other body funtions. WHAT I DO KNOW, is the guy's at Street & Performance said they use both computers in a situation like this and send what they need from one to the other. I talked to one of the guy's from the company at the mopar nationals in August and he thought it can be done. To use the stock frame he thinks a remote radiator and inline electric water pump might have to be used. They are the ones that moparmania bought the hemi from for his car. They thought it had already been done. They have some cool stuff on the Hemi's and have put the motor in a few cars/trucks check them out at www.hotrodlane.cc or call (479) 394-5711 Good luck and keep us posted

Ulf, I too have been working on the preliminary mechanical end of this project. I spoke to RPL at "PTS" and he informed me that presently it was impossible to do electronicly. He stated that the reason is that DC has not given the aftermarket any info on coding the computer. It is presently a secret with DC. He did mention that somewhere in the future DC would probably offer the 5.7 hemi as a crate engine with all necessary computer hardware. If you don't know RPL, he works for DC. He knows what he is talking about. I saw the lime green and Chrome 5.7 at the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Ky. last year at Street & Performance's booth. I spoke to a sales person there, because the light bulb went on as soon as I saw that engine!!! They sell them with their computer but it will not be compatable with the Prowler computer which is needed for the Transaxel. An alternative is to remove the Transaxel and replace it with another rear end and use a conventional transmission. This will require extensive modifications to the firewall, floor and drive shaft tunnel. Too much work. I'm gonna wait for DC's package, then persue this further. Sorry to burst your bubble, but mine burst too, after hearing what I just told you.!! Jim |
