Laddie, in Denver you described how to bleed the air out of the cooling system so it will not get too hot with the air conditioning on. I must have been spaced, getting old or something, and can't remember how to find the petcock and what to do. Please let all of us know. |

on the front of the intake manifold, top side, there is a bleeder-kinda looks like a big brake bleeder fitting. |

Donny. I went out & took a pic this morning. It's just to the right front of the "3.5" emblem on top of engine... the bright spot in the pic (just below the 1st slot of black Plenum intake on right side of pic)... Can't really see the zerk fitting...
In Colorado, David N. had to bleed Al's Prowler at the Pike Cog Railway parking lot... I agree with Butchee it looks like a brake zerk fitting... When I saw the tech do it, he barely opened it & steam came out... I think the service manual says to put a piece of aquarium tube over it & let water run out away from engine... Here's another picture of the air bleeder valve, looks like you can use a 10mm or 3/8 wrench on it, use the hose as Laddie has suggested. |

ATTN: AL BECKER this been fixed yet? Mine overheated Sunday... on a 3 mile drive, at LOW speed, in DRIVE< with AC on ( 8800 miles on car! YUK! I look now and find water IS Coming directly out of the bottom of the overflow reservoir (for lack of a better term, where the pressurised cap is).... ANY ideas, ANYONE? Dont want to go through the CatWoman (let's let the carlot boys drive it around til it gets hot) thingy. After letting it cool down Sunday, topped off with two 'beer' pitchers of water and then drove the 10+miles back home and it never got over halfway up the gauge. Put it to bed. Anyone else had anything similar please? Thanks ANY, all |

Geno Tex, there seems to be only five possibilities where the leak is coming from, crack in the plastic tank, leak from one of the two hoses, water coming out from the bottom of the over flow hose, or a weak cap (haven't seen anyone mention if that was replaced). Good luck, keep us informed on the problem. |

Guess Al Becker didn't see the latter posts. Warranty DC fix: new water pump new thermostat new radiator ? Runs COOL now! Something about crap in lower radiator (like Bars Leak, installed at CAAP) that settles in bottom of radiator and a complete flushing couldn't get it out. |

quote: I overheard Al Becker and MadMax talking about the Prowler coming from the factory with some type of 'Bars Leak' installed in the radiator. Someone confirmed this from the factory (???) Apparently, this goo can collect in the bottom of radiator when the car sits for long periods of time, and cause problems. What I heard and understood,,,,,but don't know this to be fact. Al - casting sand could also be a problem. This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 07-25-2002 at 08:38 AM |

I think it was Neal or another tech that mentioned the sand. hard to believe that they would ship with a rad sealer in a new car, but I'm not saying that it didn't happen. |

Folks, I have a custom radiator on mine and still have heating issues under boost. I doubt that a new radiator will fix this issue. I'm surprised Alley Cats heating issue got fixed. Later... ------------------ |

WTF? Stop-leak in a NEW radiator? What are they smoking up there at the factory?!? What is the reason for doing a Pep-Boys parking lot fix on a brand new car? I know Barr's is the best, but still! WTF?!? |

MAX-thanks for the info. Well, with all the times my rad was out, there's no sealer left anymore. My car runs cool with standard antifreeze mix. needle on half most of the time. Cruzing at 75-80 on a 90 + deg day, it goes between half and three quarter. Slow down and back to half again. ------------------ |

Guys - if you look at the newer type Bars bottles at the stores, you will read on the front that it says "FACTORY INSTALLED". Ask why? Because the factory doesn't want your car to leak,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,until the 36 months are up |
