I have successfully installed the Pioneer SPH-10BT. I just received the PAC SWI-RC adapter for the steering wheel controls but am having problems getting to and finding the lone control wire in the steering wheel column. The PAC site states "The control wire is located in the steering wheel column in a White or Gray plug. Remove the cover around the key cylinder (special torx driver may be needed). Cut the wire in half. Connect the INTERFACE's wire to the steering wheel side of the cut wire. Insulate remaining cut wire." How do I get to the wire and make sure it is the correct one? Anyone have any pics by chance? |

OK, I finally found the correct screws to remove to get to the ignition but now I simply do not know which wire they are referencing. Any clues? Ignition is at the top of this pic: View from the bottom of the ignition: |

It's been a while and I'm only going to be a little bit of help tonight. The wire is at the bottom of the column. Pull the plastic panel off under the steering wheel. It is not part of the ignition switch wiring. There is a bundle of wires electrical taped together. I'll have to check my manual tomorow to be able to tell you the correct color wire. BROWN, maybe? |

Another point from the instructions from PAC: "Connect the SWI-RC's White wire to Red/Blue of the above connector." But it has no diagram of the Prowler connector it is referencing. |

Sounds like a phone call to PAC is in order.....but my 2000 manual shows this: Far right side of top diagram looks like red/dark blue coming out of clock spring bundle... This message has been edited by mslc10 on 05-19-2019 at 11:23 AM |

So I started hunting more with the diagrams from mslc10 (THANKS!) backing off from the BCM and right underneath the steering wheel I found the white plug and a red/blue wire. I took the chance and cut it and connected to the PAC but when I try and program it, it is acting like it takes the first button program but does not move on to the next like the instructions state. So I tried without even pushing a steering wheel button and saw the same sequence, thus it is not actually recognizing anything at this point. I'm getting her ready for a long weekend trip so I put everything back in place for now. If I can ever figure this out then I'll post more so there will be a reference but for now I'm at an obstacle to proceed further... Here's some photos of the plug/wire. One is further away and the other is a close-up. |

Assume you are connecting PAC wire to the wire going into the steering wheel? A phone call to the PAC people , make them support their product. They are more familiar than anyone else....or should be. This message has been edited by mslc10 on 05-23-2019 at 05:11 PM |
