![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The speaker in the center rear of the car, has anyone here changed it out for a replacement and if so what size speaker can you fit in there without making any mods? Also what purpose does that center speaker serve, is it supposed to act as a woofer for bass or is it just another speaker meant to accompany the system? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Try contacting Mike Hagen at the link below. I don't know if he has the answer but he is very knowledgable about speakers and radios. I got four speakers from him for my Cuda and they were perfect for my application. http://mikehaganantiqueautoradio.com/ ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have found a speaker that is correct in every aspect except it is about an inch deeper and will not fit without modifying the box. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: What size speaker is it (diameter) and what is the depth of the box itself (if you know)? Lionburger, I contacted the company in the link but he doesn't work on Prowlers or almost anything newer then a 1975. Thanks though, I'll have to break out the book and look through it in more depth. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: This company specializes in thin speakers. The ones I bought from Mike Hagan work great (in my Cuda). He purchases the ones he sells from RetroSound and even though he doesn't deal in anything after 1975 maybe they can supply something satisfactory. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: Thanks again, after doing an extensive search I found out the sub woofer is in fact 6.5" (small for a sub) but have not found out yet what depth it is yet. I have found good speakers in the 6.5" range and those in the link you provide will work just fine, and they are sold in pairs so if one blows I have a spare. They are not sub woffers but at a reported 52 Hz it's low enough to make me happy. Thanks again. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, I don't frequent the site like I used to. The OEM speaker is 2-3/4" to the back of the mounting flange. The speaker I found is 3-3/8" deep. It doesn't much matter to me right now as I built a new speaker box and used an 8" Rockford Fosgate Punch woofer with a 300watt amp. No more problem. |
