When I had the used tire I got form Edsup (THANKS) put on, I was informed that both rims are bent. They did balance out but they did have a noticeable wobble to them when they were on the balancer. My question is.... Is there anyone that can get these rims back to good usable condition? Other wise the rims are perfect. The chrome is in very good condition on the inside as well as the outside. |

Droptop, I purchased a whole brand new set of rims from the dealer and had the same problem they went through several rims before I finally got some that were not too bad. The dealer tried to blame the imbalance on the tires and of course the tire company tried to blame the imbalance on the rims so they unmounted the Runflats and found it to be Faulty New Rims out of the box. Some of the new rims were even peeling on the inside barrels new out of the box. I highly suggest to purchase Quality Aftermarket Rims and save yourself a lot of time and headaches trying to keep the stock ones from pitting and becoming junk down the road. ------------------ |

Take a look at EDsup's new rims. They fit the car great and they are Foose wheels and being Foose wheels, I'm sure they will hold up real well. Wally |

Factory rims are chrome-plated aluminum manufactured by American Racing while the backs were merely a flash chrome process & not triple plated like the fronts(cost savings). The chrome-plated was designed to remain hi-gloss/hi-shine with virtually no maintenance whereas "most" aftermarket wheels are not chrome merely hi-polished & some have clear coating, some do not. Therefore, the aftermarket may require more maintenance than factory. As with any product, do your homework for all details. |

I think you need to look at other Prowler owners rims, front an back. No difference in quality and they both peel really dramatically. We have a front one you can buy from us and that will change your mind. Nothing says quality about this chrome job! Wally |

Yup. These Foose wheels are much easier to keep polished. There is room to get to the back between the spokes. Brilliant chrome. I like 'em... ------------------ |

These wheels look a lot like the wheels that we have on our Magnum. It's just my opinion, but it is very hard to improve on the stock Prowler wheels. I think I will send the 2 ft. rims to these guys this winter to get them fixed and rechromed. A bit pricey, but less than a new set of rims. Thanks for the information....droptop This message has been edited by droptop on 10-22-2008 at 08:43 PM |

You know DropTop, I feel exactly the same way. I think the original Prowler wheels are great - hard to beat. Problem is most of them - including mine - have some imperfections in the chrome. I thought long and hard about doing what WallyGator did to his stock rims - having them cleaned up and re-chromed. I saw his wheels, and they are beautiful. I just had to look at what it was going to cost, and I decided that the FOOSE wheels were pretty awesome. It was less trouble, and it cost me a lot less to make the swap. So many ways to go, and the good news is that you can't do wrong - either look really good on the Kat. Go for it... ------------------ |

I got the rims back from Fast Forward Wheels. Saying that they look great would be an understatement. The chrome looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside. When I had them mounted, they balanced out the first time. Took the car for a drive, and I could not believe the difference it made in the way the car rides and drives. It is like a completely different car. I'm ready for a road trip. Eli at FFW is top notch. |
