Does anyone know what the black plastic guards that go on the forward section of the rear fenders are properly called, what their part number is, and a source to purchase a set? Also how are they removed without doing damage to them or the fenders? TIA, Gary This message has been edited by Gary Heath on 07-28-2008 at 01:14 AM |

You can get them off by using a hair dryer. If you use a heat gun you can damage the paint underneath. They are held on by double faced tape. It may take some time but slow is much safer than too fast. If you use a heat gun be very careful. I used a credit card to start the "prying" portion of the removal. You can also use fishing line or dental floss to slide under them. You can get them fron the dealer but be prepared for sticker shock. They are about $ 80 each, I don't recall the exact amount. If you have any stubborn glue you can use WD-40, lighter fluid, etc to remove the residue after you get the plastic off the fender. Ah Ha!! So 'that's' how those things come off. I'm sure glad to find out that they aren't glued on with something like contact cement. I can handle the fishing line/dental floss end of the job, and my wife is almost as practiced at the use of a hair dryer as she is that of a credit card ..... .....but only almost. Thanks Ed! |

---------------- I put clear stonechip protection tape on most critical places on the Prowler. Front & rear fender, mirror, lower panels, front compl., ... Its like "not to see" and protects well the chips. |

the only problem with using a heat gun is it will warp the old part.if youre buying new ok.if youre going to redo the old ones or save them for possible future redo dont use a heat gun.once the part is off you can use a heat gun to remove old tape also.heat from the underside of w/opening not the top. ------------------ |
